Good locate, but an unnessary...
Liked: I didn’t like the cost of parking our car, I feel that the money we paid it should have been included.

A tour hotel that can...
Liked: This is a typical tour group hotel. I stayed here for three nights at my cost and one night at my tour operator's cost before a cruise and two nights at my cost after that trip. I booked at this hotel only because it was the choice of the tour operator.Pluses: The location is good for walking in the Botanical Gardens and for walking to anything in town center if you like to walk. Many day trip operators pick up here. The bus to/from the airport and to/from Arrowtown stops nearby. The view from the lakeview rooms is worth the extra cost. Some "non view rooms" look directly into other rooms.Jasper at the front desk was particularly helpful, and he is the main reason I am writing this review. (1) I booked a lakeview room for my pre-nights, and he made sure I didn't have to move to a different/cheaper room on the 4th night when the tour was paying. (2) I booked a standard room for my post cruise nights. Jason let me pay the difference between the standard and lakeview rate and have a lakeview room for my second stay. [Experience tells me that this is normally not done for people who don't book directly with a hotel.] (3) I had a concern about the water temp in the hotel's laundry machines which don't have control knobs. The story is too long to tell here, but Jasper helped me with that, too. (4) When I got home, I saw that I had been charged twice for the post cruise room upgrade. I emailed Jasper, and he straightened it out same day. Jasper is the definition of top-notch customer service. I hope the Copthorne appreciates him.
Disliked: The breakfast was okay for me because I am happy with toast, coffee and juice -- maybe some cereal or fruit. However, the breakfast room was often noisy and crowded with big tours, and people in those groups never closed the lids over hot food so hot food was always cold. Ice for cold drinks is only available from the bar which is only open in the evening. There is ice at the front desk, but they don't want to hand it to you -- only send it via room service. (Not everyone at that hotel was quite as customer service oriented as Jasper.) My first room had a great view but a noisy mini-fridge. My second room had a great view and quiet fridge that froze everything in it including the water in my water bottle. There is no AC, but you can have a fan. The heat barely works, but you can have a space heater.
