A little expenditure and work...
Liked: As you approach the Copthorne Hotel in Greymouth - you can’t miss it as it’s the tallest building in town) the tired facade (painted grey!) doesn’t do the hotel any favours. Nor do the creaks and groans the lift made on the way up to the 6th floor! My room was well appointed with TWO double beds. I’ve never been a fan of open hanging spaces rather than cupboards.
Disliked: I enjoyed a good evening meal (huge position of fish & chips) but charging $14 for 12oz of IPA is daylight robbery - that’s the equivalent of £9.30 a pint, for a locally brewed beer - their justification “we’re a fine dining establishment” . . . . really? And they could do with replacing the wooden windowsill which was riddled with woodworm holes.Otherwise, super friendly and helpful staff.
