The Hotel Continental was originally built for the 1964 Swiss National Exhibition in Lausanne and was recently refurbished modernized and enlarged. It is located opposite Lausanne's Main Train Station a 10-minute walk from the Old Town and the shopping area. It offers air-conditioned rooms and free WiFi. The nonsmoking rooms feature a flat-screen TV with satellite channels a mini-bar and a bathroom. A rich buffet breakfast is served every day. Guests enjoy free access to the newly opened 1200 m2 fitness center located in the building. The Le Pain Quotidien bakery and restaurant in the building serves fresh bread and organic dishes. The M2 metro line is available directly next to the hotel. Evian can be reached in 30 minutes by boat. Vevey and Montreux are just half an hour away by train. The ski resorts such as Les Diablerets and Verbier can be reached within 60 minutes by car.

Consistent and reliable

Liked: Consistency and ease of checking in and out and use of discounted parking facilities helped make this place one of my reliable go-to stays when I am in Lausanne.
Disliked: Elevator construction but that didn't really impact me at all.

Convenient central hotel with a...

Liked: Fantastic gym, sauna and hamam. Comfy beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Loved the bakery that is partly inside the hotel. Partnership with La Bella Vista pizza place next door, which offers the biggest and most delicious pizzas for a reasonable price.
Disliked: No mini bar. A little tired looking

Recovery Room - Clean, Quiet...

Liked: Room was very comfortable for me: clean, quiet, and met my simple needs. I booked in for a couple days to recover from jet-lag having just flown into Geneva from California.
Disliked: They are working on the elevator but hopefully the repairs go quickly since I'll be back in a few months. This is the first place I book when I visit Lausanne for its location and having stayed here before and knowing what to expect. The breakfast could be more affordable.

Liked: Location was good and staff was very kind.
Disliked: Room was too dark and facility was old and outdated. The nearest parking lot was about seven-minute walk from the hotel.
