Booking.com is a ripoff

Liked: The staff were friendly and the rooms were nice
Disliked: I did not like the fact that dogs barked until 10:30 p.m., we ran out of hot water in one of the rooms, the hallway smelled of dog, and children ran up and down the Halls until half the night. The staff were more than gracious to accommodate giving us a refund for one of the rooms that we rented, but booking.com would not give us the $112 refund until I paid $68 for a cancellation fee. I did NOT CANCEL, and I told booking.com over the phone that it was not a cancellation, it was a refund for poor service. It sounded like they were going to waive that $68 so-called cancellation fee but then at the end of the conversation the guy wanted to charge me $68 on my card and I declined. I was not going to pay $68 on $112 refund and only received $44 when it was not my fault for what I was receiving the refund for anyway. But the guy insisted at booking.com that he was to charge me $68 for a cancellation fee. I don't know what he didn't understand about it wasn't a cancellation. If I do not receive the $112 refund fully from whoever is supposed to be issuing the refund, I will never use booking.com ever again, and I will be speaking to my lawyer.

I did not like booking.com and I will never use them again because the hotel gave me a refund on one of my rooms for the inconvenience and booking.com wanted to charge me $68 of the $112 refund for cancellation fees which was not a cancellation. The refund was for the bad service that we went through yet they still wanted to charge us for cancellation. I don't know what they didn't understand about the fact that we did not cancel, we actually stayed at the hotel for the whole entire evening. I did not accept paying the $68 because then I would only got $44 out of the $112 that I should have received. Then booking.com told me that they would refund the $68 fee as a one-time courtesy and then at the end of the conversation he was trying to charge my card $68 anyway so I did not accept. I am asking that I received my $112 refund or I will never use booking.com again ever. And if I don't receive the full refund amount of $112 without being charged $68 for a cancellation fee that I did not cancel, I will be speaking to my lawyer.
