Very good

Liked: Beautiful building and grounds! Mostly friendly staff. The food in the restaurant was good.
Disliked: We ate dinner at the restaurant both nights. The first night the waiter told us the specials and prices then remembered one more, the cod but I don't believe he gave the price. I figured all the other prices were $48 (the steak) or under so I went with the cod. When he brought the receipt the cod was $95. I was surprised but didn't complain since I never specifically asked the price. I took it as a lesson learned. The next night the waitress listed the specials one of them being the cod for $38. I told her I had been charged $95 the night before. She took my info and told me to check in with the manager at the front desk after dinner. When we checked in with her she was very rude and seemed bothered I was checking in so soon. She said she would look into it before we check out the next day. I apologized and let her know the waitress had asked me to stop by after dinner. When we checked out she was again rude when I brought up the overcharge... "As I said, I'm going to refund your money." She never said that before, she had said she would "look into it" before we checked out. She then charged me $45 instead of the $38. When I questioned it she said that was the price on Monday but the price on Sunday had been $45. She eventually corrected it but was not happy to do so. Mind you, I tipped very generously based on the total I was incorrectly charged the first night so we still ended up paying a lot for the first dinner....more than it should have been even with the adjustment. Our stay was nice other than this one person that was very rude.

Every time I made reservations...

Liked: I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa, and it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of the Columbia River Gorge, this historic hotel combines old-world charm with modern luxury, making it a truly special getaway. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every detail of my stay was perfect. The rooms were elegant and cozy, offering stunning views of the gorge and the beautifully landscaped gardens. Waking up to the sight of the waterfall and the sound of birds chirping was simply magical.Dining at Simon's Restaurant was another highlight—each meal was expertly crafted, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients that truly showcased the flavors of the region. The spa services were equally delightful, offering a relaxing and rejuvenating experience that left me feeling completely refreshed.Whether you're looking for a romantic retreat, a peaceful escape, or simply a place to unwind, The Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa is an unforgettable destination. I can't wait to return!

Very good

Liked: Beautiful historic hotel. Very close to freeway so get a room on the riverside not the “garden” side. Excellent food and staff at the on site restaurant.
Disliked: Noise from freeway

Great value, we look forward...

Liked: Great location, with view of the river from our corner room (200), even though we only paid for a "Garden View." HVAC worked well, bed was comfortable, and the closet was spacious. The property overall has a great feel, is relatively well-maintained, and was a truly good value.
Disliked: The light bulbs were a bit glaring: the one between the two sitting chairs was a bare bulb (room 200), even though it was inside an enclosure, and was too bright. The bathtub gurgled and had a bit of water rise then recede through the drain on both days we were there, leaving an unpleasant black deposit. For that reason we decided to skip on using the shower, to avoid potential issues. Someone has chosen to ignore the fact that light bulbs have a different "color value" (i.e. warm to cool) and we found there were WAY too many of the harsh white light bulbs interspersed with the more appropriate warm colors, both inside and outside the hotel. The effect was an unpleasant non-uniformity on the lighting. Still, those are minor issues,
