Columba Hotel Inverness
Liked: The staff were very helpful, it's in an ideal location for getting about in Inverness. The beds were comfy and the breakfast options were good.

Very happy overall.
Liked: The breakfast was fine but would have liked a hot plate. The size of the room and bed was great and the view of the river was lovely. Room was clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee and shortbread in room was appreciated. Shower room/toilet clean and spacious. Was able to leave my luggage at reception for a few hours, which was very helpful.
Disliked: The room was a little cool, but there was a freestanding radiator, which I used for a while. The surroundings could maybe do with a bit of TLC, carpets/curtains/walls.

Was happy to stay for...
Liked: Hotel was close to the city centre.
Disliked: Bathroom was in a bad way. Found loads and loads off hair in the plug 6 hairs in the bath. The bin was rusty. The toilet seat was falling off. No handle to get out off the shower so I had to carefully hold onto the toilet. The bedroom view u are looking into other people's houses. Bed was far to soft couldn't sleep properly and noise from the corridors at 2am. I took pictures off the hair from the sink. U can't stand in front off the sink toilet is in front off it.

Poor
Liked: Bed was comfortable. The television in our room had poor reception but we were offered a move to different room without hesitation.
Disliked: Breakfast plates were in plate warmers that were not working and they were wet and dirty. When we alerted staff, the response was, 'no worries I'll get you clean plates' (no apology for a real hygiene issue that made us nervous about the food being served), Staff (with exception of receptionist when we left) made no eye contact and seemed disengaged and uninterested. Day 1 breakfast we were told 'it's self service' as the waitress moved away from us.Our room was not serviced on day 1, and only the bins emptied on Day 2.The lighting was poor, bathroom mirror light was not working and electrical sockets were badly positioned - hair dryer was too far from mirror,We were woken at 5.30am by very noisy refuse collections and there was a noisy mechanism (compressor?) In the street that ran till late one evening. We checked out one day early even although we had paid for the extra night. We won't be back.

I would highly recommend and...
Liked: Location was absolutely perfect. We went to Eden Court Theatre and at the hotel's recommendation we parked at the Cathedral car park which worked perfectly. The hotel was very central to walk around the town, to the theatre. All the hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Comfortable stay in a large...
Liked: Location, size of room (202 is huge) and friendly reception staff.
Disliked: Plumbing makes very loud noises, shower floods the floor (yes we used the shower curtain properly) and breakfast staff (especially the young girl) were almost invisible - we had to go to the kitchen to ask for basics (tea etc). Breakfast buffet was ok.

Superb
Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful.Breakfast had plenty to choose from at the self-serve buffet, and from table service menu at weekend. Order and food served promptly. Couldn't ask for more.Location is one of the best, few mins walk to centre yet quieter than you'd expect.
Disliked: There's nothing I can think of!
