A very cool place to...

Liked: Full immersion into the colonial experience!
Disliked: Parking near tavern was limited- there were no instructions on how to access television ( could be me) . While we are 100% able The property ( understandably) was not ADA compliant. That must be made clear .

Best location in Colonial Williamsburg

Liked: This was our second stay at the Colonial Houses (specifically the brick tavern). Last time we stayed in a ground floor room and this time we requested an upstairs room with a queen bed. I prefer the downstairs room--it's a little more cramped, but the four-poster and window onto Duke of Gloucester Street feel more special. The upstairs room was fairly basic.

We chose this for the...

Liked: The location was excellent, the room was warm.
Disliked: The furniture was ripped, broken, there was mould on the shower curtain, dried blood on the sheet and a scratchy blanket that was musky and appeared to be not fresh. The walls were all marked, tiles in bathrooms chipped , marks on the outside of a very old outer shower curtain and holes in the bathroom wall. When we complained and showed the reception staff our photos they were very polite and professional but because we s booked through Booking . com couldn’t do anything. We went through the complaints procedure of Booking. com and after a week they told us nothing was being done. So we emailed The Head of Hospitality and Chairman.. Their response was quick and very apologetic. They couldn’t u derstand why we hadn’t been refunded and they rectified that immediately and said they were going to go and look at the room- 3701- and make repairs/ chase up cleaning staff. The building isn’t truly Colonial it is 19 th Century and antique doesn’t mean broken, ripped, dirty so we didn’t expect what we got! However we have been refunded and they seemed genuinely suprised by the state of the room. I just hope repairs have been made or the next guests will have the same awful experience that we had. Absolutely definitely not worth the money.

I had an amazing experience...

Liked: The staff was amazing. I was catered to and treated like I was special right at the door and every step of the way. Adrian and the bellhops were directly responsible. One man took my husband and I right to our door, because at the end of the day we were too frustrated to find it😅. At check-in the staff was attentive. An IT specialist was right there to help with the computer issue. We only had to walk out the door to explore the historically accurate grounds and delightful shops.I truly did not realize it was a luxury resort until I arrived and was treated like royalty! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience
Disliked: The room needs some updating, especially the bathroom. It was clean and I appreciated that.
