Modern but could be better

Liked: Location is good, few minutes walk from subway and bus stop across the hotel. It took us about 15-20 min to walk to the Tower bridge from hotel. Room is smaller than I expected but it's comfy. Price is reasonable. Room was cleaned and towels changed daily also complemenatary cookies and drinking water every day. You can check in & out with kiosk machine, which is faster than staff.
Disliked: Room is not soundproof, I could hear someone's making a tea in next room and all converstions from the hall way. Staffs were not friendly and helpful. Becasue we can use kiosk machine for check in & out, so it means no reason for staffs to interact with guests by smiling or saying welcome or good bye anymore. Safe box in our room was not working (it couldn't lock), staff came in with the attitude of "it should work, you just don't know how to use it." After he checked, it still not work, he left and came back to change batteries and it still not work, he left and came back for 3rd time and offer us to switch a room. On our last night, one set of a towel is missing. I called receptionist, 10 mins later - no towel, my husband went down to front desk to ask them in person, 10 mins later still nothing. I called receptionist a second time, they told me that it should be on top of the closet. It's my 4th night here I think I know where it should be, he siad he could't leave now becasue he's the only one at the front desk, he had to wait until the other staff got there. So it took over half hour for us t get a towel!
