Good location, mediocre experience overall.

Liked: Excellent location, very near to a couple of museums, walking paths and parks. Being in a quieter part of town, it felt nicely isolated and serene.
Disliked: We have stayed in several Clarion Hotels around Sweden before, so the bar was rather high. That being said, as we stayed during the weekend before Christmas, we were expecting some better hospitality and better variation of the food (breakfast and dinner were the exact same over multiple days).Moreover, the parking to the hotel was pay-per-night, and not included in the cost. Lastly, the gym was tiny, and the sauna was turned off (but that can me attributed to the period we visited).

Liked: Fantastic hotel, great location, housed in historic building.Room was great size, exceptionally clean, comfy bed. Dinner surprisingly good & breakfast adequate.Highly recommend, would definitely stay again.

A very good lakeside option...

Liked: The location, right on the expansive river and part of the Munktell Museum complex is hard to beat. The staff were all friendly, engaging and helpful, especially larger-than-life Angelo in the restaurant. Half board as part of summer tariffs is great and convenient, as there are no other restaurants within two blocks of the hotel. The rooms are spacious with lovely high ceilings and big windows that open. The bathrooms are a good size. The outside seating at the restaurant is fabulous—it overlooks the lake and is a perfect place to unwind in good weather. I felt very safe as a solo traveller, as it’s a good family-friendly hotel.
Disliked: I’ll caveat this by saying the hotel is undergoing a much-needed renovation. It looks as though the rooms have only had a superficial update in the past thirty years and the quality of fit out is far below what I’ve come to expect from Clarion Collection hotels. I upgraded to a superior room so I could have shampoo and conditioner and bigger pillows. It grinds my gears a little that these things are considered upgrades, when they come standard in comparable hotel chains. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the train station, over cobblestone streets and uneven paths, so a taxi is a good idea.
