City Centre Motel by OYO, Seaside

Okay for ONE night if...

Liked: great price for those on a tight budget for ONE night, parking right outside the room, great location for walking to beach and Broadway
Disliked: hooks needed in the bathroom to hang clothes/towels, there's just a pedestal sink which holds nothing, need at least one shelf next to sink for toiletries, needs to be stocked with more towels ( was told only one towel per person which is ridiculous, they are THIN towels), no closet or hooks in room so nowhere to hang coats, clothes or put shoes and suitcase, only one nightstand w a lamp, no extra blankets, no hairdryer. My stay was business related so needed it for more than one night which made it very uncomfortable, nowhere to sit comfortably to eat or put a laptop. The check in is a few blocks away, no way to reach them unless you call the main national phone tree number, had to drive there to ask for more towels, housekeeping only came one day because it was his 'day off'Not asking for much!

Liked: Small, but very clean room. Nice staff, close to downtown
Disliked: A chair would have been nice

Our getaway

Liked: Close to all shopping, beach and restaurants. Comfy room. The houseperson was very friendly, asked if we needed anything when he saw us. Check in was easy going.
Disliked: Slight leak around bottom of sink. When making coffee and using microwave, kept turning off. Had to hold surgery strip button on to work them. Microwave was on a low shelf. Would have been handier on the counter. Would have been more comfortable if a couple of chairs were there instead of having to sit up on the bed for everything.

Liked: It was a comfy bed, clean room, and parking was very close to door.
Disliked: I had a 1 bed unit. I couldn't check in on sight. When I arrived office was closed [permanently] and I had to go somewhere else first which was never communicated before hand. The place was clean, but so stuffed with furniture that half the door to bathroom was blocked and i had to skoot in sideways. The work space had a very uncomfortable chair and was small. The price doubles on the weekend and I had decided to stay 2 more days. But found much better price at Hillcrest Inn. The day I was checking out it was raining until the afternoon. I wanted to not load my car in the rain on slippery ground and asked for a 230 check out. They said they would have to charge a full day and although 2 days before had 6 of i think 10 units open, now they claimed they were full. Since check in is 4pm, that would have given them plenty of time to clean 1 unit. So, they missed out on some pure profit because they had strict rules with no room for employee to give great service and that made it unsafe for me to load my car.
