Just passable

Liked: Location and price.
Disliked: Not my first stay. In fact I've stayed many, many times over the years. The location is great, and value for money can't be beat for Townsville. The motel is showing it's age, its very tired tbh - but you pay for what you get. My stay was marred with people in the next room partying, then decided to open the fire escape door and set the alarm off well after midnight. That went on for some time. Following, at 4am someone a floor above me had a shower and it sounded like an F18 was taking a short cut through my room. I recorded the noise because so ridiculous and played it back to reception staff the following day. I was relocated another room that day. Will it stay there again? probably. When I visit Townsville for work I just need a clean comfortable bed.

Disliked: The "free wifi" advertised has a daily allowance of 1GB!That's not even enough to do simple stuff like watching a movie after work.That might have been acceptable 10 years ago, but it's not at all acceptable in modern times.--The staff attempt to nickel-and-dime the customers for basic things as well. For example, there is a washing machine and dryer available for use, but it needs $5 worth of $1 coins.And the Madison Plaza doesn't keep $1 coins around. Instead, they sell a "washing pack" for $7 which has 5 x $1 coins + some washing power in it. That's literally useless for people (like me) that already have their own washing power. The Madison Plaza staff will not be moved on this and ONLY sell that pack.I had to walk to the local Woolworths to get the $5 worth of coins instead without being ripped off.

Disliked: Room was unclean. Appliances did not work, including the TV and iron. Air conditioner leaked. Room in generally poor condition.

Liked: The room was a little weary, walls had paint coming off, windows were not clean and you couldn’t really see out of them, there was no phone in the room, no room service. However the staff were so lovely and very helpful. I stayed at it said the address was flinders street but it was on a side street near flinders street.

Below average and dissatisfied

Liked: Bed was comfortable and I had a really good sleep.
Disliked: Poor wifi- 1 GB per day. This is unheard of. House keeping was poor. All I got was a bunch of towels. My friends room was not cleaned at all. The amenities such as soap dispensers are filthy and probably mouldy. Check in staff were disinterested. I asked my family to check in on my behalf as I came in after reception closed. I spoke with reception and gave consent. My family was in a rush and asked reception to have check in paperwork ready by the time they returned to reception in 10 mins. This request was completely ignored making my family very late for their appointment.
