Cotswold charm

Liked: Nice location and beautiful building but weren’t told about the building work. Room we booked had apparently been overbooked so we were given an ‘upgrade’. Room was more style over substance not enough lighting and no long mirror in room. Shower splashed everywhere sink drained away slowly very expensive for the room. Staff were friendly and professional and food excellent. Would stay again but not for that price.

Liked: Beautiful grounds. We stayed in a newly refurbished room , lovely contemporary colours, furniture and fittings.

Great property but beware of...

Liked: Setting was amazing with extensive lawns and a long drive from the street. Main rooms were lovely, and breakfast and dinner were served in a comfortable dining room. Breakfast included in our room rate was quite good, as was the dinner we ordered our first night. Our room was nice but a bit dark - it was in the newer section of the hotel. Next time I’d try a room in the original historic building - which would help with the construction issue below as well. Note that there is an extensive construction project underway to remove the indoor pool and expand the facility. This was happening right outside of our door, so after a quiet weekend we awoke to a dozen workers on Monday morning and actually needed an escort to and from breakfast. I would keep this in mind if you are looking for a midweek stay on the coming several weeks.

Beautiful manor, lovely decor and...

Liked: Liked the location and the breakfast! Disliked the noise (music playing below bedroom until 10.30pm) the radiators banging at 6am in the bedroom! Quite noisy when staying in the main house.

Delightful

Liked: Hotel is in a lovely setting and stylishly decorated. The bed was literally the most comfortable I've ever slept on! So lovely, I looked to see the name of the mattress topper so I could buy the same. We only saw 2 staff but both very friendly and helpful.I had the scrambled eggs and salmon for breakfast: it was very nice . The toast was really good. Locally baked sourdough I think. All in all lovely stay, and I think they are making improvements to the hotel at the moment
