A comfortable and relaxing break

Liked: The resort caters mainly for spa package visitors but we were able to stay overnight on a B&B basis, making a welcome break in our journey. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and our spa visit before dinner very relaxing (pool, gym, sauna). The food at dinner was excellent, tasty, not too heavy, beautifully cooked and presented. The room spacious with a large comfortable bed. And a comprehensive buffet breakfast to round it off.
Disliked: These are not really problems, but guidance for future visitors: the site caters mainly for spa package visitors, so as B&B guests we understand that we have to fit in. Check in was not until 5pm - we would have welcomed a slightly earlier arrival, similarly, checkout is 10am latest. We did not try any of the spa treatments or exercise classes so cannot comment. At dinner, the meal as noted was lovely, but if you are price conscious, check with the staff - there seems to be a set price for a 3-course meal, but the actual cost is not clear from the menu. Don't let any of this put you off - it's a lovely place.

Liked: Breakfast was good, lots of variety and options.
Disliked: Vast swathes of corridor / hallway space and tinie, tiny saunas. I wasn’t expecting a room with a shower curtain, a broken bathroom lock, an extractor that wasn’t functioning, black mould and reusable plastic glasses.

Liked: Facilities are great, good gym nice pool
Disliked: This must be the least welcoming hotel I’ve been in. When you haven’t booked direct with Champneys you are definitely a second class citizen in this place. If they haven’t got the maximum amount of money out of you that they can, you are constantly reminded that your aren’t a full guest! Check in and your room key isn’t programmed, go to the restaurant and you are referred to as a B&B guest, note under your door overnight to tell you must have left the resort by 10AM or you will automatically be charged extra and the maid stood outside your room before 10 to make sure you are out!! I gave it a 2nd chance but never again!

Liked: Staff were really nice and the hotel looked clean
Disliked: Bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. Check in was late at 5pm and only had 4 hours to use the facilities as they close at 9pm. No where states that they close that early which should be stated. Breakfast include only continental and you had to pay for a normal breakfast which is ridiculous
