Clean but disappointed.

Liked: First and foremost, and though my fault not reading into the listing more thoroughly we felt a bit deceived because when I booked this room for one night, the listing was not clear that it was the EXTENDED STAY SUITE. We had stayed in this extended-stay suite some years back and did not like it. I was unaware this was the same spot because it wasn’t properly notated in the listing. The poor girl behind the desk was unable to change this because I didn’t book through them and booked through this site. The extended-stay suites are in a separate building, they are very clean, but very, very old and outdated. They are a little sketchy as in how I felt And I am handicap and had to climb stairs to get to our second floor suite. I wasn’t about to pay for a new room because we couldn’t change this one.Based on the criteria, it is a good place. It’s clean it’s comfortable and the staff is wonderful. They are very accommodating for Mayo Clinic patients which was our reason for being there, all 3 times we’ve stayed there. There is a decent breakfast in the morning, and it is not a bad price for everything.Definitely, however, I would suggest NOT staying in the extended stay suites unless you have to, meaning they are good for staying for the week providing amenities, such as an entire kitchen and it’s very convenient with the shuttle and the attached restaurant. If you’re only there for one night, though, I would not recommend it.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay,...

Liked: The hotel is always very clean, the staff always friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast is very nice. They also have a very nice restaurant called Twigs that is located inside the hotel and the food is very good. The location is only two blocks off of Broadway and very close to the Mayo Clinic.
Disliked: This is our second time staying and the first time I had experienced any problems. I didn't have any hot water on my last day, it was lukewarm if that. We will stay again and hopefully that was just a fluke.

Nice room. Clean.

Liked: Okay. Bananas were ALL green
Disliked: About 10 minutes after we arrived in our room, the door was opened by another couple using their key card - which opened the door to our room! They went back to the check in desk, and then - nicely - came back to tell us that the room number they were given was misread (or something) and that their key card was changed and they were in their correct room. Okay. A good thing. However, when we came back to our room later - after dinner - our key card didn't work! We went down to the lobby and then redid - whatever they do - so we could get into our room. It was very scary to have someone simply open the door - with a key card - and walk into our room.

Terrific value, comfortable, accommodating parking...

Liked: The complementary breakfast was significantly better than most comparable offerings by several hotel chains. My observation is that the hotel makes the breakfast available to others who do not appear to be guests.
Disliked: My only concern was that the eggs were prepared in advance and obviously sitting for awhile.

Very outdated and felt like...

Liked: Easy to get to. Staff was nice.
Disliked: Very out dated and old. Photos felt misleading. Layout is not very functional. The ac unit is in the living room right when you walk in and the bedroom is around the corner past the kitchenette. There is only a small fan built into the wall between the bedroom and living room to get the air into the bedroom. I did not sleep in the bed due to it being hot when I walked in. I cranked the AC (even though it was March) and slept in the recliner (80's recliner) for a few hours since I was only there for the night and had to get up early.

Close to Mayo with great...

Liked: This property was close to Mayo which I needed. The staff were kind, breakfast was ok, not many options for someone with restricted diet other than yogurt. The room was nice, bathroom need a little work, caulking wearing off, but it did not affect using anything. Not all the outlets worked but we found a work around so it wasn’t a huge deal. All staff were excellent. One small issue with housekeeping, I was down getting breakfast and came back to housekeeping in my room with my daughter. That was a little uncomfortable but was a teaching moment for my daughter about answering doors. I can’t say enough about the front staff and breakfast attendant, very kind, respectful and accommodating!! The pool was very nice, not over crowded or over chlorinated. My daughter enjoyed the pool and I was able to stick my legs in the hot tub(unable to submerge due to feeding tube). Met some other Mayo patients who had shared experiences which is always nice! The shuttle service was great as well! Super entertaining drivers!
Disliked: Peeling of caulking leaving dark spots. Housekeeping entering my room with just a child present.
