Beautiful pool and sauna, but...

Liked: Location is off the beaten path. The owners have made a good effort to bring the rooms more attractive. The floors have been redone with no old stinky rugs. Bed was nicely made.
Disliked: There were six pillows on the bed all of which were very firm and not comfortable. The heater came on nearly every ten minutes and was very loud. Too cold to turn it off.

Disliked: After arriving and hitting the pool we returned to room to discover roaches. Clerk offered to give us another room but we refused and they refunded our stay.

Liked: There was a good selection for breakfast, and they allowed an early check-in which was helpful for me.
Disliked: Everything in the room seemed to be broken - shelf, window blinds on first floor room, outlet covers, toilet seat. Saw a cockroach crawl out from under the fridge in the morning. Only stayed one night but had multiple male staff members open the door to the room in the morning before check out and then claim "housekeeping" (without announcing themselves ahead of time . . . ) The door did not have a dead bolt and as a female solo traveler this made me feel very unsafe. At checkout I mentioned this (very politely) as it is not acceptable in my mind and I can't imagine other guests appreciate it so maybe an opportunity for more training for staff. Was dismissed by the staff member and basically told yeah they're doing housekeeping. When told about the cockroach staff simply said "OK." Made me question the cleanliness of everything.

Atmosphere and Value on a...

Liked: Breakfast selections were plentiful considering this is a budget-friendly motel. Grab a seat at one of the outdoor tables with umbrellas for a peaceful meal on a sunny day. This family-run motel is located in a quiet residential area near the edge of town. Our room had nearly everything we needed.
Disliked: The drain stopper in our sink wasn't functioning properly, but the front desk person came and solved the problem right away. Evidence showed someone let their dog defecate in the driveway without disposing of it properly. This at a motel that offers a nice, fenced-in space for dog walking and, presumably, dog pooping.
