Great location, very good staff.

Liked: Beautiful building, bed was very comfortable and breakfast good. Would defiantly stay again despite the few minor comments below.
Disliked: The room was quite small given we were traveling with our dogs and the dog beds need to go on the floor. Prices in the bar are almost twice as much as the local pub.The quality of the quilt was not what you expect, Synthetic.

Perfect hotel for families

Liked: The staff were lovely and fully looked after our party of 9.
Disliked: On arrival at reception I was asked to pre authorise my booking with a card and pin. I explained that I had done this with booking .com. I was not able to do this so another member of a party of 9 used their card being assured by the reception staff that no monies would be taken it was just to secure the booking. This was not true the amount was taken from their account and the next day a different member of staff informed me it would take up to 5 days to be returned. This made checkin a stressful situation when 3 families had to wait when i had already pre authorised online. I offered to pay in full but this was rejected by the receptionist. This situation would deter me from booking with Best Western again which would be a shame as the rest of the stay was lovely.

The hotel's physical condition was...

Liked: The bed had linen that has probably been used in the hotel for many many years. The room size was very good, the furniture was also very old. Most franchise hotels have inspections to maintain the franchise, just wondering how Best Western allows such a hotel to pass inspection.
Disliked: I did not like the interior of the public space as well as the rooms. The check-in area, the place that should be in a hotel a pleasant decor and furnished with a little more taste. Again, the hotel is "tired"

Characterful hotel in great setting.

Disliked: It's Grade 1 listing means some aspects of maintenance not up to date.
