Disliked: Avoid Casa Santurce – Unsafe and Unhygienic StayI had a highly disappointing experience with Casa Santurce, and unfortunately, Booking.com was unable to provide any meaningful support despite the serious issues I encountered. Here’s a summary of my experience:1.Hygiene violations: Kittens were roaming the kitchen, touching and licking items. Rat droppings noted in the shared kitchen/patio area, and roaches were found in my room and bathroom.2.Broken amenities: The toilet was malfunctional, and the faucet and mirror were broken, making the stay extremely inconvenient.3.Dirty bedding: The sheets and pillows were clearly unclean and smelled like BO.4.Mold and poor lighting: Mold was visible on the walls, and the room had dim lighting, creating an unsafe environment.5.Noise and Disturbances: Constant chicken noises throughout the morning made it difficult to rest.6.Safety concern: Additionally, there were two alarming incidents where someone attempted to unlock my door without permission. The first occurred at 4:30 AM of the first night while I was sleeping and only stopped after I shouted, “Who is this? How can I help you?”. The second incident happened around noon of the day prior to my checkout day. When I confronted the individual, it turned out to be the cleaner, who dismissively replied, “I thought you were checking out today,” showing a complete disregard for guest privacy and security.When I raised these serious concerns, the property carelessly dismissed my cancellation request and Booking.com showed a shocking lack of accountability. And only suggested offering a "good gesture" of "15%" of the reservation cost. Additionally, instead of addressing the matter professionally, they simply directed me to “figure it out” with the host/manager, who had already demonstrated complete disregard for guest safety and hygiene.

Liked: Location in the city was fine except a little rough neighborhood
Disliked: I have pictures with evidence of multiple dead bugs on the walls in both the room and the bathroom broken mirrors in the bathroom leaking water from the air conditioning covering a third of the bedroom floor, the mattress itself is unsanitary and I wouldn't sleep on it ever. The security code pad entering the room doesn't seem secure and the front desk people know the code leaning is nervous. We didn't stay in the room. We requested to cancel and left immediately with minimal options of other places being available. Booking.com didn't offer to help.

Liked: The location is full of locals. It has a real neighborhood vibe with a lot of Dominicans hanging out in the bar up the street. As for the property, only stay here if you have the private room and you’re on a budget. I tolerated it because it was well-connected and air-conditioned for a very good price. I couldn’t imagine sharing with multiple people here. Lots of people hanging out late helps the place feel safe
