Overall, it was a pleasant...

Liked: The location of this resort is fabulous. It's within walking distance of everything downtown Carlsbad has to offer and directly across the street from the beach. We appreciated we were able to check-in slightly early (~1.5hrs) before the formal check-in time.
Disliked: The resort was a bit more dated than I expected. A few things we noted:-Room Location: We were apparently among the unlucky few who had a balcony that looked directly onto the wall of another building in the complex and below was where staff (housekeeping, maintenance, etc.) traveled to get/store their supplies. As a result, the balcony wasn't enticing to use despite us initially being eager to spend some downtime on the balcony in the ocean air. -Thin Walls: Our neighbors kept their TV on all night and we were able to hear the programs through the walls. -No Smart TV: The available cable channels were largely sports & news. There was no ability to stream from our own streaming accounts as is possible in some hotels with smart tv's. -Unfulfilled Housekeeping Requests: We requested some additional pillows via housekeeping but never received them. -Small Pool: The pool area is quite small.

Would definitely book here again.
