Superb

Liked: Location was amazing and the room was fab. Loved being able to walk around the cathedral grounds at night.
Disliked: Pillows were a bit solid and the sheets kept coming off the bed where they didn't fit properly.

Bad

Liked: The staff were polite and very friendly. Food was good and location excellent.
Disliked: We stayed in an annex room. Please don't book this unless you like student hostel standards. The room was not adequate for the money charged. The entrance was very dirty and the room was old and shabby. The sloping ceilings meant there was no shower apart from a shower attachment wrapped around the taps. No mirror to shave. Stained carpets. Awful wiifii. I'll stop there..

Fabulous Stay

Liked: This was our second stay at the Cathedral Lodge and we were looking forward to staying again. As on our first visit, we really appreciated the lovely welcome on our arrival. The staff on reception were friendly and efficient. The lovely young lady explained everything that we needed to know, very clearly and was happy to chat. We were allocated a great size room which was located on the first floor. The room had everything we needed from the kettle, a selection of hot drinks, a fridge, ironing board, TV, hairdryer, a safe, plenty of hangers for our clothing and plenty of information. We had two armchairs and a coffee table, in the bay window, which overlooks the gardens and Cathedral. The bathroom was squeaky clean with large, well lit mirrors, plenty of white fluffy towels, along with lovely toiletries and plenty of lovely hot water. Staff at the Cathedral Lodge are very friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast service was excellent and breakfast choices are good. We didn’t use the lounge area during this visit, but it is a lovely seating area where you can get coffee and snacks. We love the peacefulness of the grounds and gardens around the Cathedral, especially the rooftop garden at the hotel which over looks the magnificent Cathedral. It is lovely place to wander or to just sit a while to enjoy the peace, it really gives the hotel a sense of calm. If you are eating out while staying at the hotel, you can use a discount at several restaurants in Canterbury. You are also only a short walk from The Marlowe Theatre which is very handy, and the reason for our stay. If you are late back after a night out, you have to ring the bell, show your pass to security, who will then allow you back in. All in all we had another lovely stay at The Cathedral Lodge. We felt very safe and secure while staying at this lovely hotel in the centre of Canterbury and look forward to our next visit.
