Disappointing

Liked: Location was convenient for us visiting family.. It was quiet with easy parking.
Disliked: The room was basic and the carpet not very clean. We had booked a twin room, it had two single beds which felt like kids beds, narrow with basic mattresses. These days I would expect a twin room to have at least king singles or doubles. I asked for a mattress topper to make the too firm mattress more bearable, and it never eventuated in 3 nights. Also the location of the air-conditioning unit was very unpleasant, it was blowing cold air directly onto the beds and couldn't be redirected. It was the Christmas holidays, and it felt as if there were only about 10 guests in all of the hotel. An upgrade to a better room, of which there were certainly plenty, would have been a nice appropriate gesture.We've been Rex guests a few times over 30 years and we always enjoyed it. This time it was disappointing.

Liked: The staff were beyond hospitable.
Disliked: Besides the lady on check out that wanted to be anywhere else besides where she was. Very disappointing end to an amazing beginning.
