Liked: Canario Boutique has an absolutely wonderful location. It’s located no more than a four minute walk from the beach and there are a variety of restaurants and eateries. many within less than a five minute walk. The property is also pretty quiet and there is a good amount of privacy when staying there.
Disliked: I have stayed at this property before, nine years ago. This was the reason that I booked with them again. However, the property has definitely seen better days. I was told that the dressers had been removed from the rooms. I had to live out of my suitcase on the floor during my stay as there was nowhere else to put it. There was peeling paint, dust, and rust in my room. I arrived in the wee hours of Friday morning and was exhausted from a day of traveling, so I didn’t get a chance to thoroughly inspect the room until later in the morning.What I discovered was that for the most part, my room was filthy. The bed was clean, but that was where it stopped. There was a sticky substance in the rug and there were stains all over the nightstands, refrigerator, and corner table where the TV sat. The worst part was the bathroom. There was hair from previous guest in the corners of the bathroom behind the sink in the shower and on the toilet. There was dried urine on several places on the outside of the toilet as well. I mentioned all of this to the woman at the front desk first thing that morning. When I returned from the local store, housekeeping was present in my room. They had made my bed, but the bathroom was still filthy, and I cleaned it myself with Lysol wipes.Although I did not plan to spend a lot of time in my hotel room, I will mention that Internet service as it related to watching TV left a lot to be desired. There were frequent issues with losing connectivity and utilizing the Wi-Fi. Every time I wanted to watch TV I would have to unplug the television from the wall, wait 30 seconds, And then plug it up and hope that the Internet reset. This was hugely inconvenient. The final issue is something I’m not sure can be remedied, but it was the amount of mosquitoes that I killed in my room not before being bitten five times during my stay. I killed no less than 10 mosquitoes while either laying in bed or in the bathroom.

Disliked: I have to revise my initial review. Everything was good -- decent rooms, nice staff, great courtyard -- except I was wrongly charged for not returning a key (which I did return). I thought the charge had been erased but it wasn't. I checked out around 5:30 am. No one was at the desk. I dropped my key in the bucket marked "return keys." Nothing was said to me about a missing key until I complained about a $167 charge that had been added to my account. Probably incompetence but who knows. Don't stay here.
