Excellent location but a lil...

Basic hotel, great location.

Liked: Staff was accommodating and polite. Rooms were clean although carpet could use some attention and cleaning. Great location with proximity to the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
Disliked: Not a quiet stay. We were on first floor and upstairs guests were pretty heavy footed so we could hear that.I would request to stay on second story next time and away from pool entrance as you can hear the gate slamming open and shut.

Liked: The location was excellent. Right across the street from the beach, about a mile east of State St in a quiet area. Next door to the Santa Barbara inn. The walking and bike paths right out our front door. A SUPER deal for the price. Exceeded our expectations. The staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Disliked: It was very old and could stand some paint and new fixtures but our room was very clean as was the entire property.

Exceptional

Liked: We were passing through, stayed for one night and were satisfied. And I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness. The maids are wonderful. The hotel is also nice, and what a beautiful location.

Disappointing

Liked: The location was good. The room was visibly clean.
Disliked: The room had an intense chemical-perfumed cleaning scent that was overwhelming and caused an allergic headache for me. An industrial fan was running when we arrived (and in 2 or 3 other rooms next to ours). The owner (?) warned us about the fan. He gave some weak excuse saying they just liked to blow air, nothing about the smell. We had to run the fan all night, blowing towards an open window to mitigate the smell. The smell bothered my husband too, even though he does not have chemical sensitivities. We should have requested a different room even though we'd completely unloaded our car and moved into the room. That's on us.This property does not supply in-room coffee makers. Not even an electric tea kettle for hot water. I would not have booked this room had I known this in advance.A continental breakfast was advertised but an email from the property, AFTER booking, explained that breakfast was no longer an option. This was especially disappointing because there were no coffee makers. I would not have booked this room had I known this in advance.
