Perfect escape to the country...
Liked: Beautiful location, spacious and private facilities. Lovely staff, and thoughtful little touches such as cookies and milk for the kids at bedtime and age appropriate robes for them!
Disliked: As with any large hotel maintaining impeccable finishings and furnishings is difficult and expensive. But this didn’t impact our stay.

If you need a quiet...
Liked: The breakfast was very good, had so much choice. Dinner was also very good with some beautiful wines to offer. The room we had was the "Winston Churchill" suit which was very large and has a great view of the grounds. All the staff are great nothing is ever a problem. This was our 2nd time staying here, we will 100% be returning.

Expectations not met and maybe...
Liked: Beautiful location and log fires abound. Reasonable Executive room number 1 which is really a disable friendly room. The breakfast was as expected with the staff very attentive. Attractive grounds and building.
Disliked: On arrival there was no receptionist and the same on departure. Appaerently at staff meeting. Unfortunately the cobwebs on the curtain pelmets, the cold room as the heating didn't work so had to have two oilfired heaters installed, and the dirty shower screen. Then when you have a shower the whole of the bathroom is flooded, but the shower body wash is great. In the restaurant, there was no draft beer so had to pay £6.00 for a 330cl bottle of lager, the chanderlier was dirty and needed cleaning, and the meal of fish & chips was chosen from a very limited menu. Unfortunately all of us had some undercooked chips.
