Should you stay here? YES!

Liked: Burton Stone was a fantastic find. An easy 10 minute (maximum) walk into York made it a great location. Parking on site is a bonus. Our room, Number 9, was large and airy...had the biggest bay window I have ever seen which had been made into a comfortable seating area. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was modern and clean. Good range of teas and coffee, with biscuits and chocolates an added extra.Aggie and her husband Michael were very friendly. Breakfast, cooked to order, was excellent, and there was a very good choice.Should you stay there? YES! We will be back.
Disliked: Nothing at all.

Wonderful family run hotel

Liked: This is a little gem of a hotel close to the centre. It's run by a husband and wife team. Michal is the most jolly hotelier we have ever met. The hotel itself was clean and welcoming. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The breakfasts were made to order, well presented and used the finest ingredients. Super happy with our stay and would highly recommend to others.

Felt a bit conned, won’t...

Liked: very friendly greeting on arrival, nice clean and well decorated room.
Disliked: I was disappointed to be told that I had to pay £7.50 to park in the pub car park. This definitely is not clear on the booking.com website, in fact the description is designed to make you think that parking is provided. Also disappointed that there were no bar meals available.

Room 9

Liked: I love this hotel so much and this is my third stay! The location is perfect for accessing the city centre. The owners are so welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. The newly refurbished part of the building is gorgeous! We stayed in room 9, which was just a shell and in the process of being decorated last time I stayed here. Wow what a difference! Beautiful stained glass window, a comfortable king size bed, a seating area, a lovely shower. The decor was spot on, with a botanical theme. The room is huge too! Our breakfast was great! Good quality local ingredients cooked to perfection. My one quibble would be that the room needs some black out curtains, as the blinds only block out light coming through the bottom of the window, obviously because they don't want to cover that gorgeous stained glass. Thicker curtains would be the icing on an amazing room! I would 100% stay in this room again. We're booked to come back in August to the family room, and can't wait to stay again.

Cosy, clean inn with lovely,...

Liked: Michal was an amazing host. Lovely double room at the front with a big bay window. Clean room, good shower and clean toilet. Good location, about a 10mins walk to Bootham Bar, the nearest entrance into the old city.
Disliked: The only problem was that every door was a heavy fire door and so made it hard sometimes to open, and there were quite a few of them.
