A lovely weekend break to...

Liked: The Burley suite was excellent. An amazing bed, fantastic views and immaculately cleaned and replenished daily. Burley breakfast was also good.
Disliked: the continental style 'pantry' breakfast was very limited. Very little fruit available, no compote despite there being a sign for it and croissants and pan au chocolates were slow in being replenished.

Faded hotel, poor service

Liked: We were staying for one night. Lovely location. We were told on arrival (checked in at 4 pm) that the restaurant for dinner was too busy. The receptionist said we could eat there the following evening…. I reminded her we wouldn’t be there. We chose a hotel over bed and breakfast so we could arrive and relax at the hotel and not have to go back out in search of a restaurant. The receptionist asked what time we would like breakfast and then proceeded to tell us the limited times available. Our room was comfortable and warm. The bathroom large and clean just required a little attention where water damage from the shower is lifting the floor.Breakfast - unfortunately even though we were in the restaurant at our designated time we ordered a Burley breakfast which included black pudding and tomatoes. From time if order our breakfast took 35 mins to arrive. It was cold and didn’t have the above. My husband asked me not to complain as he was fed up waiting and just wanted to eat and leave. I did, however, tell a lady when she made eye contact as she passed our table. She passed the information on and the waiter came over to explain “mistakes happen”. He asked if he could get us anything else and iffered eggs Benedict to take away… we declined.
Disliked: Happier people. Better service and the ability to use the restaurant as advertised.

Lovely autumnal stay but breakfast...

Liked: Location is beautiful, especially in the autumn surrounded by deer and orange trees. Inside in the lounge/bar there are cosy open fires. The room was pretty average, but comfy bed, power shower and underfloor heating in the bathroom. Dinner in the restaurant was lovely but portions were small, you have to order sides with a main.
Disliked: Breakfast was really disappointing - the veggie breakfast bagel was stale, the bagel not even buttered or delivered with butter on the side, only given one half of a bagel, just a slice of halloumi, half a grilled tomato and a portobello mushroom. For £18 a head (plus access to continental breakfast items) this is really poor. We told the waiter this was disappointing and he comped our coffees (which cost extra) and advised us to write this in our review for the benefit of future guests...

Disappointing

Liked: Location excellent, reception and breakfast staff good . Breakfast not bad but certainly had better.
Disliked: Dinner waiting staff appalling. 45 min wait for starter to arrive plus being told the wine I had ordered was not on their list despite it being there. Given two different excuses why starter so slow by very arrogant staff who managed to spill both our water and wine on the table ! Final straw incorrect mains served and when I questioned them their initial answer was this is what you ordered. Agreed we would leave without charge. Appalling and over priced experience.
