Well run hotel with excellent...

Liked: Great staff, helpful and friendly. Lovely room. Free ev charging was a great bonus.
Disliked: Charge for a dog is quite high at £20 a night, it adds up over three nights. Better to charge a flat fee per stay as I do accept there is additional cleaning when you leave.

Although the hotel was delightful...

Liked: The room and the view from the window was lovely. The staff were efficient and friendly. Beds comfortable and a great bathroom with a bath. Our room had a separate toilet which is also useful. I particularly liked the aroma of the complementary soap and shampoo etc. the kitchen did extend the time until after 6pm so that I could find something to eat and it was delicious. The best crab sandwich I have eaten. The bar staff Bella was particularly good, we knew they was short staffed and she was out of her comfort zone so she coped very well, under the circumstances, having normally been allocated to serving in the restaurant.
Disliked: The dinner menu was not to my taste at all. I don’t eat beef or chorizo and my husband is vegetarian. It was a set menu and could not be individually selected, so two starters not available. It was all or nothing. The bar menu was also limited particularly after 6pm. Given that we were in Cornwall it would have been great to see a Cornish pasty and salad on the menu. Whilst sitting in the bar a tray of food was placed on the bar and left to get cold as Bella was busy serving and fending off complaints because the beer on tap wasn’t working. She did come round the bar with the food which were canapés for those having dinner but all of us were going to eat from the bar menu so they were taken back to the bar where they sat for the duration. It was a little strange and odd, to have such waste. We were confused and so was she? The conservatory where the bar food was served was very cold and cheerless so we moved to the reading room. We definitely felt that staff although very good and attentive were a little out of there comfort zone and training was lacking in some areas. I was asked to sign for our food and drinks on 4 different occasions which given that we were residents at the hotel seemed very excessive.Breakfast was a bit elitist as well. We weren’t allowed to sit at a window table because we didn’t dine in the restaurant apparently. The tables were allocated to diners. Although we had booked for breakfast and said so when we arrived that we needed to pay for breakfast. There seemed to be confusion which was a little embarrassing and in our opinion quite unnecessary.When our cooked breakfast arrived it was cold.

Disliked: Filthy pool. Remote didn't work, even with new batteries. Breakfast service very slow and others who arrived after me were tended to first. Send feedback but nobody contacted me regarding my stay.
