Disappointing and definitely not 4*

Liked: The grounds were nice and warm welcome from reception when we arrived. The room appeared and smelt clean.
Disliked: The hotel has a weird mix of interiors, some of which are awful and old/run down. It feels as if the place is a little botched together and needs updating throughout.The ‘spa’ resembles a council leisure centre; we went down there and decided it wasn’t worth using. It requires a significant upgrade.The restaurant - this was the strangest experience. Lots of super young staff (no problem with this at all) but they were all over the place and showed very little initiative. We had multiple errors with breakfast on both days of our stay. The breakfast (continental part) was super basic and quite a let down. We have had much better in other hotels. The dinner, which is supposed to be ‘fine dining’, just wasn’t anything special at all. It included a prawn cocktail with blobs of ketchup on the plate! When served canapés at the bar area, we asked a young waiter what they were and he had no idea, but they were all cheap, fried, cold food.Overall, the hotel states 4* but we struggle to understand or see how this is possible in its current state. We would not return sadly.

Liked: Beautiful grounds and area. Staff are very welcome and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. We loved everything about the hotel.

Magical place.. beautiful gardens and...

Liked: All lovely really but I had to ask a waitress what to do when I arrived in the breakfast room rather than her direct me which is not a problem but just so you know.. perhaps they thought I knew the routine.
Disliked: I was in room 1 and the people next door had tv on too loud til midnight..I guess some people don't think much. Maybe there should be a note to consider that... maybe it's just me needing total quiet.

Good hotel for mature guests

Liked: Big bedroom and bed. Quality items in the room.
Disliked: Location - way out of Falmouth.Staff at Breakfast were very slow.

Liked: The location, the facilities and excellent service from staff.
Disliked: The room was very far away from the exit which was tricky when needing to take the dog out. The staff seemed under pressure when the dining area was at capacity for breakfast on check out day and the service and breakfast wasn’t as good as the day prior. My partner had undercooked food and mine was over cooked. A reasonably priced menu choice would be a good option for lunch and dinner. The table service was slow. It had all been excellent on our first day. Better lighting at the entrance would be helpful for those needing to take dogs out at night or arriving late. These issues did not spoil our stay.
