Don’t bother!!

Liked: All I can say is location!
Disliked: It’s in desperate need of refurbishing!! The whole hotel is FREEZING! We checked in at 1pm and had to wait as only 1 member of staff in the whole hotel and she was doing afternoon teas! We went to our room - rusted attachments, only 2 plugs over the other side of the room. We went into the bar for a drink - no lager, bitter or Guinness! No snacks. Couldn’t order anything as no chef! We did book dinner which wasn’t great - I had to have fish & chips as no vegetarian selection! The other half had steak which was so thin! The breakfast the next morning was disgraceful- no menus, we were asked “Full English”, no alternatives! Only 1 choice of coffee & tea so don’t be expecting lattes !! We had to ask for another blanket which was the oldest blanket I’d ever seen!! We declined dinner that evening and went somewhere else and we declined breakfast the next morning!! As it’s mentioned it’s a dog friendly hotel there are NO dog poo bag bins anywhere!!! Totally disappointing and not worth the £260 we paid for 2 nights!!! Don’t bother :(

Loved my stay eeverything was...

Liked: All clean
Disliked: Paid extra for the breakfast included but the breakfast was tiny. It was like a childs portion that was the only issue so when I book again I won’t be paying extra for the breakfast.

Just missing a Portuguese waiter.

Liked: The location was good as near the motorway but not noisy. Lovely area for walking. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Disliked: Dog friendly, yet there was nowhere to bin their no 2's, and the dog water bowl was green and full of leaves and dirt. Charged £20 for the dog but have no idea why as nothing was provided for the pleasure. The room was extremely dated. Everything was patterned, but nothing matched. After a fiddle with the old heater, I got it working but needed a torch and had to get flat on the floor to turn it on. The air vent into the room was filthy and full of dead flies. The shower was poor, but the water was a good temperature. There is no heating in the bathroom, so it's freezing cold and nowhere to hang your towel. 2 half used toilet rolls were provided. The toilet roll holder has a metal lid, and due to all the condensation from the shower, this got wet and ruined the toilet roll, so we were down to 1 half toilet roll.Poor selection at the bar, seemed to have run out of everything. Ended up with a cheap bottle of prosecco which you can buy in Lidl yet paid £28! No ice as the ice machine had broken but they hadn't bought any as a temporary solution. Slept well even though the bed was hard but i put that down to the volume of alcohol consumed. Breakfast was the worst I have ever had. Was told they were just making scrambled eggs. When it turned up, it was luke warm, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 cheap sausage, beans, mushrooms and a tomato. Haven't included scrambled eggs as I don't believe that's what it actually was. It resembled crumpled up polystyrene with a pale tinge of yellow and lots of black pepper. It was inedible. I'd like to say you get what you pay for here if it was just the £65 but with an extra £20 for the dog and £10 each for a breakfast, the total of £105 is daylight robbery.

Very convenient and good friendly...

Liked: Convenient and pet friendly
Disliked: The quality of cooking wasn’t great. Dinner main course - no finesse, elements of chicken breast and vegetables just basically cooked and heaped on the plate. Breakfast - Scrambled egg overdone, clearly part of a very large batch, not prepared individually. Similar for sausages, over cooked. All akin to a transport cafe standard, not a hotel.

Mini weekend break

Liked: HomelyWelcoming Value for moneyThe evening meal was lovely A very nice breakfast
Disliked: The bed was uncomfortable it dipped in lots of places The fire alarm went off early Sunday morning nobody evacuated and we managed to see a man walking across the courtyard who confirmed a guest had been smoking in the room which set the alarm off.

Even though the dislike box...

Liked: The staff were friendlyThe building and grounds had good character The dinner menu has good variety and tasted nice
Disliked: The decor needs updating. The dinner food, albeit tasted nice, I would expect better quality of ingredients. The only diet soft drink available was Diet Coke (which is fine as I drink it) but wasn’t working which as a type 1 diabetic meant I could only drink tap water or sugary drinks which is bad for my condition. The cooked breakfast is very small portion, which for £10 is overpriced and resembles a Wewtherspoons breakfast which is half the price. No hash browns with cooked breakfast!
