Disappointing

Disliked: I booked a room for my 82-year-old mother in June 2024 for November 2024. Even though, at my request, they assured me in June that they would give me a room on the ground floor, and I said I was willing to pay any price difference, in November the room was on the first floor without a lift. My mother was forced to go up and down the flight of stairs with great difficulty. At the reception they assured me that they would have the manager contact me to handle the inconvenience but I was not contacted by anyone. My mother had great difficulty. If in June they had told me that I could not have the room on the ground floor I could have changed hotels. Negative experience

Great location for a stay...

Liked: Old style hotel - good rooms - it is located on a busy street in a student town so can expect to be woken up in the early morning hours. Book a room with garden view and you'll be OK. Staff attention (iCarlijn. Stijn) is very good. Location is perfect for a stay in Maastricht.
Disliked: The shower stall was definitely not clean. The beds were old and mattresses seemed to have been good a couple of years back.

Great location; a mixed bag...

Liked: The location is so good that I would stay there again if I had to go back to Maastricht for similar purposes.The hotel has a somewhat vintage vibe, the inner courtyard is especially cozy.The staff were very helpful.The blanket and provided pillows were great.There was plentiful soap and shampoo provided, I wish I had know it would be that way, as it would have saved me some weight in the luggage.
Disliked: The way that the room is set up is somewhat questionable. There is no overhead light, it felt too dark all the time.It is very strange how the shower is open to the room.There was not enough storage nor seating space. There are only a couple of open shelves plus a rather low space for hangers, my jackets were dragging when hung there :(. There is a very old vanity with a speckled mirror where you cannot really see anything with the necessary precision, its side cupboards do not open, and the seat that is provided is so low that it feels like sitting down on a kindergartener's chair. So basically there was no way to just sit down comfortably nor to work on a computer properly.The bed sagged weirdly in the middle.The breakfast was somewhat underwhelming, mostly continental stuff plus a tiny bowl of scrambled eggs with bacon made to order, it's really not worth the ~20 euro price. There is a grocery store just around the corner where you can go and buy all kinds food. It is a pity that there is no refrigerator nor a microwave for hotel guests to use so we could keep and warm up food items.The housekeeper came to make the bed and take out the garbage every day, but it did not seem like they bothered with cleaning the floors of the room or of the shower...
