Issues yes but I’d stay...

Liked: I paid £69 for one night weekend stay in March including breakfast. The hotel is less than five minutes walk from the main train station just the other side of the cathedral. It is near to several small supermarkets and kebab shops which are handy for visitors.The breakfast was surprisingly good for a continental breakfast and was included in the price.So, not perfect by any means but good location and good value though I would have preferred staying in the main hotel which has a lift and no door lock problem.
Disliked: My first contact with reception did not go well. I arrived before check in time and asked if I could check in. The receptionist said yes if I cam back in an hour but when I did, no room was ready. I was told to wait, which I did, and after about 30 minutes, a room was available. The receptionist was rather surly – or is this just the German way? – and I wasn’t happy. It would have been better to say to me that I would have to wait until check in time rather than promise something but then not being able to deliver.I wasn’t staying in the main hotel but in their annexe a couple of shops away. This annexe has no lift so it was a climb to my third floor room. The door also has to be open in a certain way – put the key in, push it away, turn the lock and then open. Of course, it was straight forward when the receptionist did it but when I tried to do it for the first time on my own, I couldn’t remember how to do it and had to go back to the main hotel and ask them how it was opened. Completely uneccesary – just get the lock fixed.My room was a good size and everything was fine. Yes, it’s not a new hotel, the towels were thin and small and most of the channels on the TV were blank but, all in all, for the price and location, it was ok.

Liked: Room was ok and staff came into clean everyday but the door handles were damaged, safety deposit box didn’t work and the building is in need of repair. The lift was broken on first day but we used the stairs anyway. The location is good but next to the cathedral & church so wouldn’t stay there if you don’t like to be woken up by the bells.

Liked: Overall very good hotel room very clean with towels washed daily, problem with the toilet flushing as sometimes it wouldn’t flush or would continuously trickle water but wasn’t too bothered, would recommend for location basically outside the cathedral! Thank you once again :)

Friendly staff and great location

Liked: The location was excellent, a stone's throw from the Dom and Hauptbanhof. The room was nice also, especially for the price - clean, with a nice shower/bathroom, and the bed was even and comfortable. The staff were exceptional. One lady at the front desk even lent me her phone to call various lost and found offices (I lost my wallet that weekend). Another staff member, Jan, was also super helpful and friendly, with good recommendations and pleasant conversation (very useful as I try to improve my German!)

Would stay again!

Liked: Location was perfect! I loved it. Breakfest was good, delicious. Amazing view outside of the window, hotel it’s next to cathedral.
Disliked: Windows were dirty No Lift.
