Disliked: We didn’t like that we weren’t able to eat the breakfast because both options were too late in the morning.

We were kicked out because...

Liked: We sadly could not experience the place as we were asked to leave after being fully checked in because we had our 7.5 year old daughter with us.
Disliked: The manager checked us in, we put our suitcases in the room, the manager went out and showed my husband where to park all while the manager saw our daughter. He even offered her cookies. My husband and daughter began playing chess in front of the fire and I was about to head into the room to get jammies on when the manager approached me and said we suddenly needed to leave as he did not know kids cannot be there. We were shocked and upset as you can imagine! Then we were told that the front desk would close in 11 minutes and we needed to be out of there! This was 6:49 on a Saturday night in Napa at the holidays! My husband said we would need more time and the manager said if we were not out they would call the police! Our daughter got scared when the manager said this and so we decided to leave immediately, lest we upset her even more! She offered to pay for another hotel room for us or that we should all sleep in the car because she got the impression from the manager that she did something wrong as her presence was getting us kicked out! She even cried. :( We ended up at a Hilton and due to our arriving last minute because of Black Bird kicking us out at nighttime, we had to wait until 11 pm for someone to make up our room! So our 7 year old was in the lobby with us for hours, we even got ready for bed in the Hilton lobby bathroom as it was so late. Had we been able to stay at Blackbird she would have played a half hour chess with her dad and started getting ready for bed at 7:45 latest, as that is her bedtime! And now they will not reimburse us a single penny! Yes, we now see that the website has no kids stated as a policy but that policy was not apparent to us on Booking (where we booked). Were this policy more obvious, their own manager would have known about it and not checked us in! Furthermore, it is illegal to refuse accommodation based on age. The punishment is minimum of 4,000 dollars. We only asked for the $200 we spent without a stay, and they refused.

Visiting Napa again next month...

Liked: Loved the beauty of the place--polished wood and stained glass, well maintained public space and charming room with fireplace, patio, private entrance.
Disliked: Did not *love* the breakfast, but I'm a picky eater. It was individually prepared and thoughtful.

I had a lovely, relaxed...

Liked: Comfy bed, soft robe, environmentally conscious bath products, clean facilities, quiet environment
Disliked: A little on the dimmer side. Bedside lamp light switch only on one side. The other side had to walk to the room entrance to turn off the light on their side.
