Superb, unique little find.would love...

Liked: Perfect little weekend getaway. Sarah and her team were lovely and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and the impromptu history lesson as we visited the castle was the icing on the cake for us both.

Relaxing,, quiet and comfortable and...

Liked: Very friendly and helpful host. Our room was wonderful. Two enormous double beds which were very comfortable. The ensuite was clean and had a good shower. The room had adequate supply of teas and coffee with biscuits and the breakfast was delivered on time with the best croissants ever. Historic and atmospheric location with the castle and surroundings. It was easy to find and to park. There is a decent pub with meals available right by the river just 5 minutes drive or, if you are brave enough to chance the narrow lanes with no paths, a 10 to 15 minute walk.
Disliked: I can not think of anything that we did not like but we were very lucky that, during the time we stayed, we were the only guests so had 100% attention, privacy and peacefulness.

Magical, old and full of...

Liked: It was a night where you stepped back in time. The castle was beautiful and felt as old and atmospheric as it actually is in a 1000 Yr old castle. Very friendly warm host too and lovely to look around the old Chapel and guard rooms. It was a surprise for my husbands 50th birthday and was a very special weekend well not forget.thank you

Liked: Our host and yhecastle was lovely. They are still renovating the castle. However, the general facilities and the host was great. She met us to give the jey and we had a very nice nrealfat

nice place, but slightly flawed.

Liked: The setting was nice, lovely to see lots of Bats at night.
Disliked: The place really is nice, but could do with a bit of a overhall........ And a deep clean.The Host was very attentive and the continental breakfast was very nice. was also pleasant to see that at breakfast help was on hand if needed but not intrusive. The main issues that myself and my partner found was that for how much you pay we don't feel it fully reflects the cost. Our room, whilst warm, was dusty in places. The bathroom had seen better days. The bed sheet did not fit the mattress properly, and the mattress itself is in need of replacing.In order to iron any clothing, this had to be done in the laundry area, and wasn't available in your actual room, which was a bit of a surprise. Also be aware, the walls are thin, so you can hear pretty much everything the person in the next room is doing. However, we did enjoy our brief stay.

Liked: We arrived pretty late, but staff was friendly and showed us around, even played with my daughter a bit and handled her, frankly, excessive excitement at being in a castle.
Disliked: Not so much a didn't like, but if you are interested in touring the castle, make sure you sign up for it when you book.
