Disliked: Sad reminder of awful hotels were in the 1979s. Pokey room with the sound of kitchen extractors . Bored staff

All good beyond our expectations

Liked: Grand Old building, spacious with high ceilings , classical decor

Little dated but welcoming.

Liked: Free parking on the side streets. Seafront location. Pool was warm
Disliked: Our room was very small, if I was to come back I would upgrade. Beer was flat in the bar, needed some background music or atmosphere

Disliked: Room was not clean, had food on the walls, poor quality fixing of sink in bathroom, was not able to get in room due to batteries worn out on electric pad. Breakfast could have been better, ended up with an upset stomach for my travel home.

Steep steps with no ramp...

Liked: I was given a disabled room ,which i was told not available ,so that was good . The large bed was excellent and the room v warm. Large tv on wall opposite bed. kettle and 2 mugs provided. good bedside lights, nice thick carpet. There were several seating areas with comfy settees and a communal tv on the wall. Reception and all staff were very good.
Disliked: The whole point of choosing this hotel was it has a swimming pool and as i cant walk easily this is my essential exercise . the picture of the pool looked amazing and the pool WAS amazing BUT it was underground down lots of incredibly steep stairs. It did say not accesible to wheelchairs ,which i wasn't using, but no mention of many stairs. I managed down n up once, but it was painful. There were good steps into the pool in addition to the usual metal ones , however there was no handrail ,so it was daunting. I didn't go again altho my husband did. There was no ramp at the entrace to hotel only deep steps and then a revolving door, which my wheeler got stuck in .The hotel was like an obstacle course for me unlike a more modern one. Our evening meal was poor with little choice. My husband sent his meal back as it was overcooked n hard. He had a free dessert as compensation. My sea bass fillet was good, but v small and thin . The cheese board however was excellent much to our relief.. We went out to local pubs after that , but not within my walking distance. Breakfast was good, but on our last morning the buffet was closed, as not many people. I waited about half an hour for my scrambled eggs, by which time my husband had finished his cereal.
