Very Good except for Orangery...

Liked: Very large room booked which was lovely, breakfast very good, gardens spectacular for a hotel. Staff friendly except for the service provided in the Orangery- more below. Great hotel and good for a overnight stop
Disliked: Orangery- found the staff (think they were the manager) allocated for our table very poor- when we sat down no wine menu provided, then we had to ask twice for the wine to be delivered to table.I ordered 2 courses (main and sweet) from menu, but they never came to ask us whether we wanted a sweet. Went to pay bill and they had charged us for a sweet which we didn't have. When we pointed this out to our waiter they had to get another member of staff to sort this out. Just very poor service from this staff member who didn't seem to know the basics of hospitality at a table... spoilt our experience of the orangery and if we visited again we would eat elsewhere. Shame as its a good hotel, but let down by this lack of service.

Liked: Very convenient to Retford staff very pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast room clean and comfortable. We had a few problems with the electrics but we were given the option of changing rooms as we were only there 2 nights we didn't bother.
