Nice hotel, could be with...

Liked: Staff were very friendly. Nice bar and lounge area. Good location with ample parking.
Disliked: The room was very small. Furniture was old dark coloured wood, with some drawers broken. The whole room needed updating and modernising to brighten the place up as everything felt very dark. The chairs in the conservatory restaurant weren't particularly comfortable. The chair backs were quite reclined, more suitable for sitting and having drinks in, than eating a meal as you had to lean forward away from the seat back to reach the table. We both left the restaurant with aching backs.

Disliked: Extremely dated hotel. if you are looking for rooms and facilities that have not been updated since 90's then this is the hotel for you. In all seriousness, the room we stayed was extremely old fashioned. For simplify I have listed all the elements below that were substandard :1. Room very old fashioned, last updated in the 90's.2. Room was dusty and not clean behind furniture etc.3. En-suite, usable but not comfortable (shower head too low for anyone about 5'11' ; bath designed for bathing not showering due to bath floor shape, some areas were a bit grubby (old) tiling etc.. separate hot and cold taps rather than mixer. Shower temp varied from hot to cold.4. Restaurant is located in an old draughty Conservatory heated with electric radiators, if visiting in the winter ask to be seated near a radiator otherwise you are likely to be cold.5. Food was nice in the restaurant however the staff could be more attentive during the meal plus if handing a waitress a £20 tip in cash prior to paying the bill I wouldn't expect the same waitress to then add an additional gratuity charge to the bill.6. At Breakfast would have expected simple items such as eggs and sausages to be restocked regularly at breakfast buffet rather than waiting for the dishes to actually end up being empty before they bother to put any new items in them.7. The swimming pool is nice however it was really the only thing that we could actually use. The jacuzzi was out of order, and although they have a steam room and separate a sauna, for some strange reason they only choose to run one of these on alternative days being either the steam room or the sauna? The door to the sauna did not close properly (and one of the more regular uses of the spa commented to us just another thing to add to the ongoing list of broken things).8. Don't forget your £1 for the locker? .

Disliked: Pool being in an external building, needs more mood lighting for pool area and relaxing music. Changing room music should be in the pool area to give the spa vibe, felt more like a community pool.
