The poor anxious dog, left...

Liked: The staff manning the breakfast Saturday morning was great. She was very nice and helped us with the pancakes. There was a young man at the desk Friday when I complained about the weed smell on the second floor and the very loud dog continuously barking that night. He was also very helpful and tried to right the situation.
Disliked: It very clearly states that the hotel is non-smoking but when I arrived at the hotel Friday night after dinner with my 14 year old son, the weed smell basically knocked us over when we got off the elevator to the 2nd floor. The entire floor smelled like weed. Also, when I was walking down the hallway to the room, there was a dog who sounded like it was in distress, continuously barking very loudly. The barking continued for about an hour. I tried to call the front desk from the room, but it went to voicemail...yet I walked right downstairs and found someone sitting at the desk. He said that the hotel was indeed non-smoking and it would be really hard to pinpoint who was the culprit of the weed smell. I understand that, but the point it that the room i paid for was in a non-smoking hotel. How can you say no smoking and then have no way to enforce the policy? The Young man asked if I knew what room the dog was in and it was room 219...I actually recorded the noise and showed him so he would understand the level of distress and volume of the dog. I believe the dog owners had gone out and left the dog in the room alone and when the owners came back, the noise stopped. Saturday morning, however, the dog started again around 9 am and continued until I checked out, shortly after 10 am. Just because you allow pets and charge the owners a pet fee, that should not make it ok for the owners to just leave and allow their dog's distress to disturb your other guests. I would rather pay more to stay somewhere that would allow a more peaceful stay.
