Very pleased. The after dinner...

Liked: Everything. The property is an interesting history and the building is very well preserved and maintained in rooms. Beautifully appointed, the beds are excellent, and the bathrooms were immaculate. Mary was very nice and helpful.
Disliked: The breakfast was somewhat disappointing. The scone was way too sweet and there is no fresh fruit, which would’ve been nice. The cheese omelette and the bacon were fine but we expected more.

Excellent evening in Rockland

Liked: Returned after 23 years and still as delightful and welcoming as the first time even under different ownership! Emma was a lovely young lady who greeted us, and helped another couple celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary plan out daily hikes. She was resourceful and interesting. Lovely attic room with pitched ceilings, gas fireplace (which we were unable to turn on even though the pilot was lit). Linens very nice quality. Large bathroom with clawfoot tub and nice toiletries. Breakfast was delicious prepared by the owner John and served by his son John V.
Disliked: I didn't realize there was a thermostat in our room until the next morning so it was a tad chilly and could have used another blanket or a warmer blanket than a cotton matelasse. Extractor fan in bathroom seemed to run all night even though the light was off. One hour window for breakfast seemed unusually short. Lighting in living room could be improved for reading but library was perfect.

Treat yourself and stay here.

Liked: Breakfast was lovely. The bacon was perfection, the scones an absolute delight. The place itself is utterly stunning. It was a splurge for us, but well worth it. We would recommend it to anyone who appreciates victorian era sensibilities.
Disliked: We simply enjoyed everything and have nothing negative to say. Staff was very friendly. Just charming.

Pleasant

Liked: The room was large, comfortable and clean. The hosts were courteous and the food was okay.
Disliked: When I booked the reservation I had asked for gluten free meals since I am celiac. Given the extra time to prepare I had expected that I would get a meal similar to what was being offered the other guests. Unfortunately that was not the case. As a B&B proprietor myself for a booking.com listed property in California, I go the extra mile to ensure that guests with special food needs are well taken care of. When the guests were offered a danish to start the meal the first day, I was given nothing. On the second day, the other guests were served french toast, but not for me. I was given scrambled eggs and 1 piece of bacon both days. Additionally the Wifi was absolutely horrible, about 5-6 mb down.

Exceptional

Such a comfy bed, but...

Liked: Everyone was so friendly! And the pies!! There made a variety of homemade pies available at all hours. The room was clean, and it was easy to regulate the temperature of the room. The bed was super comfortable. A short walk to downtown for restaurants and walking path. We loved it all… we can’t wait to return in the winter (so we can use the fireplace in the room)!

Liked: Good. Wonderful tastes and combinations at breakfast. Room very cozy. Bed very comfortable. Jacuzzi tub and double shower wonderful. The pie was a great added pleasure
