Very good
Liked: I felt like a rich woman or a princess, staying in this beautiful building designed by Julia Morgan. The gardens! The pool! It’s just so beautiful and unique, yet it didn’t cost any more than the chain hotel I usually stay in.
Disliked: The room itself seemed a bit worn. No TV—which I liked, but I suspect many would not.

Very good
Liked: The building/architecture/design was beautiful. The room was good. The pool was was really nice. The building itself and the pool set this facility apart from the competition. The location was good too - a short walk from the BART station.
Disliked: The breakfast was ok/good, but I wish it had a pot of already cooked oatmeal.

Thoroughly Enjoyed This Property
Liked: Berkeley City Club is a well-maintained historical property in a central location. I prefer staying at properties that have charm and City Club didn't disappoint.

Never again!
Liked: Nothing really.
Disliked: The front desk person that was then when I arrived at 11pm, logging 3 bags and exhausted, was probably the most unfriendly hotel staff I've ever encountered. He was emotionless, short and rude at times. I booked this hotel primarily because it has a pool. When I asked about the pool, he said there was a pipe issue and the pool had closed since the beginning of the week. Then he told me that I should just go ahead and cancel my booking for the next night -- no apologies or regrets (not even a little bit). Like typical Berkeley hotels, the bathroom was so tiny and cold because the window let in so much draft. Never again!
