Liked: It is a lovely old hotel, but right in a congested part of Berkeley, While I loved the historical value of the hotel, the lighting in the rooms was very poor and there are not a lot of electrical outlets. Finding one for my computer was problematic. The breakfast was good, staff lovely and it was clean, but I found the rooms to be subpar. I went for work, and not sorry I experienced it for I love old architecture, but not sure I'd stay again.

Great location and unique surroundings,...

Liked: The ambience takes you back to the class and elegance of a time long ago. The staff were kind and lots of fun. My husband and I had the pleasure to meet the general manager Momi. What a classy and gracious person. He talked to us for awhile and offered up some excellent wine for the new year. We will be back.
Disliked: Wish there were king beds.

My favourite place to stay...

Liked: The hotel is very charming and historic. The historic swimming pool is particularly lovely. The breakfast is excellent. There is a superb view of the bay from some of the rooms. It's very good value for money.
Disliked: The rooms are also a little bit "historic". They are great if you like the charm, but don't expect something ultra-modern!
