Fabulous stay

Liked: I love the Belgrave Sands, it really is my favourite hotel in Torquay. I had a single room, which actually did have a single bed in it (sometimes they turn out to be small doubles) and was very well appointed. Excellent service and excellent breakfast food. Staff are very friendly.
Disliked: My quibbles are tiny. It would be nice to have a glass of some sort in the room, rather than just a single coffee cup, as if you make coffee there is then nothing to drink water out of. And I found the hairdryer hard to operate as you have to hold down the button the whole time you are using it, and it is quite heavy. I imagine people with arthritis in their hands or other issues might find them even more difficult to use.

Liked: Really welcoming staff on arrival. Very happy with location, refreshments and comfort of room.Night porter was really helpful and pleasant.
Disliked: Receptionist on Saturday afternoon was really rude and sarcastic with colleague when I asked about the evening dining options on the way to pool. Towels had run out and when she got some more gave me the towel and no instructions on the lockers use. Thought it was very unprofessional, although she was better tempered in the evening. Both mornings for breakfast a table had to be found and laid up. Buffet was not refreshed and on both occasions I was standing waiting and finally had to find staff and request juice and yogurt. Asked for my pot of tea twice on the Sunday.

Liked: The pool, sauna and steam room are the best bit about the hotel. The location is pretty good too. Comfortable bed and clean, good quality bedding.
Disliked: My room was a bit pokey. The door didn't open fully as the bathroom wall obstructed it. Then there were a couple of steps. The room was cold and there was a draft coming from the window area. I tried to turn on the radaitor heating (directly under the window) but no dice. When I told the (helpful) receptionist I was offered a different room but with a 40gbp fee. I din't explore this option as I considered I was paying enough for a good quality room with temperature control. In the end they provided an electric heater which was fine. There were plenty of breakfast options on the menu however (as someone who spends a lot of time in hotels in Asia) I found the quality wasn't great, but not bed either.
