Old, Clean, safe, and comfortable....

Liked: I was just there for one night. The room was clean and comfortable. It is old, but for the price, it was excellent. This is not a 5-star hotel, so the hotel is older, and the furniture is old, but I think it is great for the price. Keep in mind that this is not the Hilton, so it will never compare, but I was traveling alone and felt safe.
Disliked: The room had a little smell of humidity, and the TV is old and I couldn't connect to apps. They do have cable, but I would much rather have been able to connect to my apps as Netflix, Disney, Hulu.

Pleasant Surprises

Liked: It was a pleasant surprise to be given a room with a view. Granted, there was a gas station below, so not very private, but I was able to view the sunset! I was also happy and relieved that the bathtub could hold water. I can't tell you how many times a bathtub was advertised with a room but it didn't work. I liked that there was a heat light in the bathroom and overall that the lights were soft and not obnoxiously bright. I tried to watch TV a bit which was very frustrating because it seemed that only 10 channels came in. Half of the buttons on the remote would not work, like the right arrow and mute button. It was stuck on closed captioning. I was hoping that the furniture offered a USB port (like some lamps and desks do), but they didn't. Lastly, it was the first time I had experienced pillows with an undercover that helped keep its shape. So many times I've come across lumpy and flat pillows that are not comfortable, but theirs were equally comfortable. Thanks!

Disliked: Room at severe wear and tear. Was worth the 17 dollars I originally paid. Manager told me that price was a mistake and had me pay the full price. Also said that Booking.com made the mistake, but they did not know about this. Definitely was scammed.

Liked: LOVED the location. Central to all things Monterey and Big Sur.....
Disliked: I found a bed bug and was bitten up. The staff immediately found another room and I was able to move my 91 year old mother to that room. They refunded us our money and I felt the customer service was adequate to the situation! I don't fault them for the bed bug as I know any hotel can get a single bug (and this was only one and full grown which indicates it was not a result of an infestation but instead probably a "one-off".

Liked: It was clean and quiet and had a car park. The beds were comfortable, but we only needed one bed rather than 2 large beds. The extra bed just took up more room.
Disliked: A bit too far out of town and the price was quite high for what and where it was, but I understand that this was because the car show was on, so this was a very busy weekend in monterey and everywhere was probably more expensive than usual. Also, if we opened the curtain, it was just a clear window which looked directly into the opposite room, so we left the curtains closed.
