Mediocre

Liked: LOVED the location. Central to all things Monterey and Big Sur.....
Disliked: I found a bed bug and was bitten up. The staff immediately found another room and I was able to move my 91 year old mother to that room. They refunded us our money and I felt the customer service was adequate to the situation! I don't fault them for the bed bug as I know any hotel can get a single bug (and this was only one and full grown which indicates it was not a result of an infestation but instead probably a "one-off".

Liked: It was clean and quiet and had a car park. The beds were comfortable, but we only needed one bed rather than 2 large beds. The extra bed just took up more room.
Disliked: A bit too far out of town and the price was quite high for what and where it was, but I understand that this was because the car show was on, so this was a very busy weekend in monterey and everywhere was probably more expensive than usual. Also, if we opened the curtain, it was just a clear window which looked directly into the opposite room, so we left the curtains closed.

Liked: We liked the location; close to a nice beach and grocery store (Lucky) and other stores just a couple of blocks away. Also, the reception staff were courteous.
Disliked: I feel it was overpriced, at $417.10 for 1 night in a smallish room with 2 queen beds. It lacked cleanliness inside (sand on the floor, stained walls and bathroom), and some of the furniture was chipped/broken. When we checked in (3:30pm) there was trash outside the room door. I had to ask the cleaning crew to remove wet plastic and paper litter by the entrance -- not the greatest first impression...

Most expensive in entire trip...

Disliked: Costs too high - Surge Protector broken so couldn’t use coffee po, Uncomfortable beds, Door did lock
