Liked: Location was great for visiting Hadrian's wall. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly.

Great little hotel - don't...

Liked: Lovely hotel, good location. Welcome on arrival in the bar and friendliness during stay and on departure was excellent - lovely people. Room (in main building) was comfortable and clean. Bit of noise from other guests, but to be expected given age of the building. Very good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The observatory behind the hotel provides an excellent beginners guide to astronomy (main reason for staying), with a great teacher.
Disliked: Menu was veggie friendly, but more vegan options on the menu would be great. Only plant-based milk alternative was soya, which is a common allergenic - option of oat would be good.

Lovely staff. Great location for...

Liked: Food was very good, especially the breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: We had a downstairs room which was a good size but did smell of dogs (apparently pets allowed in ground floor rooms) and quite a few dog hairs on the carpet. However staff were very helpful and gave us a discount on the room and some free drinks. Would advise requesting a no pet room if the smell of pets bothers you. We have been to this hotel a few times before and the rooms are looking a little tired, could do with a revamp. Dinner was nice but prices have gone up considerably to our last visit so a bit pricey.

Extremely good value hotel ,...

Liked: Very comfortable, warm really good coffee/tea and toiletries even included a teapot . Really nice and friendly staff, very dog friendly including treats for dogs and included in the restaurant .
Disliked: Nothing at all, was so good .

Disliked: we booked breakfast for 8am ordered at 8.10 and it never arrived we left the restaurant at 9.00am after asking twice.Very few customers, staff preoccupied. We did get it refunded but very poor service.
