A bit of a catastrophe,...

Liked: Location was lovely and helpful, friendly staff
Disliked: An organisational shambles. The poor staff are running about like headless chickens, trying their very best to keep guests happy. Literally doing three jobs at once. Poor Amber was running reception, the bar and accommodating guests requests on her own on Saturday evening. She was calm, polite and friendly, she did an incredible job but there was only one of her and she could only be in one place at a time! As a result, service ran far short of what was expected from a hotel which sells its self as high quality and charges rates to reflect. Unfortunately, the hotel is flying by the seat of its pants - resulting in service, food, customer care and accommodation standards falling well below those expected in a premium hotel. However, many thanks to the lovely staff, specially Amber and Leyla (Sunday mornings checkout) for trying so hard to right the wrongs. We truly appreciate your efforts, patience and kindness.

Good

Liked: The room was a good size ,clean and well furnished, Nice location with relaxing quiet grounds with a nice large patio area.
Disliked: The one thing that let it down personally were the staff.Don't try phoning as no one answers the phone , possibly due to being in a group of hotels. The waiting staff in the restaurant, were poorly trained in basic hospitality etiquette.Wine list was limited, having chosen a bottle costing £33, I would have expected the wine to have been opened at the table and been offered to taste the wine.Rather than being opened out of sight and banged down on the table along with two glasses and being told Your welcome.

Lovely hotel badly run.

Liked: Beautiful old building.lovely large bedroom.
Disliked: Breakfast a disaster. Food overcooked, lack of refilling cereals bread, pastries etc. Definitely needs someone in charge. Plus we have never stayed in a hotel that does not have staff to tidy bedrooms and make beds etc. Will not return.

Stay was enjoyable, with fantastic...

Liked: The building itself is absolutely stunning and in a perfect location, we found our room needed quite a few touch ups, some being scrapes on the walls, wallpaper rubbing off ect however the amenities in the room were great, clean fresh towels and bedding, tea, coffee, water ect. A fan and ironing board. There was also a smart tele which was convenient for us. And although a tad tired we enjoyed the room. Breakfast was lovey. Nice hot fresh food cooked to order, limited continental selection but what is there’s isgreat especially the fresh pastries.
Disliked: As stated above, touch ups needed in the room, along with some of the communal areas such as the dining room which had plaster chipped off some of the corners, which is just a shame as it’s such a beautiful building. Also our room wasn’t dirty but not thoroughly checked, kids magazine poking out from under the bed and a couple other bits we noticed. Also some of the neighbouring properties land (to the left of the drive) are a touch of an eye sore (more the fencings and finishings of animal enclosures, not the animals themselves which I love) before reaching a beautiful building almost lets the hotels image down

Disliked: Room was slightly too hot but was a beautiful sunny day! So likely to be the reason why!
