Liked: Afternoon Tea was amazing, probably the best part of our stay
Disliked: When booked in for valentine's dinner online was told normal menu available. Then when sat down for dinner the gave us a menu with very limited options on and told that all that was available. When our drinks arrived the young lad spilt a load of the beer on the table and then just walked away without apologising or offering to clean it up. We ordered the camembert which was nice but had to request for more bread as very little given. We then had the beef wellington sharer which was £65. The beef inside one of them was not thicker then a finger , we complained and they did get us another piece not much bigger though. The beef inside the wellington was very chewy. The potatoes tasted like they had been microwave. Vegetables were ok. This was the worst wellington we had ever had , practically inedible, we only ate as starving and paid a lot of money for it. When saying we were unhappy with the meal they did take the service charge off. Most of the staff seemed clueless and not well trained. We went and sat near bar area, we were still so hungry that we had to buy packets of crisps from bar.Bedroom was very tired and need of some tlc. Stains all over the carpet. There were stains all over the duvet cover. Heater did not work in room.Breakfast was ok .

Lovely hotel, sadly customer service...

Liked: The food was excellent- we really appreciated the chef making us sandwiches even after the time for afternoon lunch was passed.The hotel itself was very clean and well set out- so charming and obviously well- cared for.
Disliked: Sadly we had a slight booking problem in that the room we had booked was not the room the hotel had allocated.Although we were eventually given a room similar to the four poster room, this seemed to cause the Manager some difficulty. She was offhand and brusque and we were left feeling we had made things difficult for her.At breakfast we met two very different waiting staff- the gentleman was attentive and polite whereas the woman was heard to say “for gods sake” as she went into the kitchen at my request for mayonnaise when she had not been able to provide salad cream either.
