A disappointing stay overall I...

Disliked: The room was mistakenly double booked and up on arrival we were assured no need to worry about it that evening as it would be rectified for us the following morning. The following day however we were told that we would in fact have to pay for an unused room due to hotel policy. Although I understand the policy we should have been informed of this upon arrival as had I known we were paying for the room then I would have indeed used it. The room in which we stayed was basic and the bed was clean enough however there was extensive black mould all around the window frame which was off putting. The facilities in the swimming pool were also substandard as the changing room was freezing cold and dirty.

Overall awful experience

Liked: Beautiful location and building.
Disliked: Quality of accommodation Because we took our dog with us we were allocated a “dog friendly” room which was dingy and very outdated with heavily stained carpet. This extended to the bathroom which had ugly mould between the tiles.Restaurant Ate there the first night. Food goodHotel was very quiet so didn’t book for 2nd night but no booking required. Turned up at 7.30pm (on a Saturday night) only to be told that we couldn’t have dinner because we didn’t book. Not one person in the bar where we were hoping to eat! The reason given was that kitchen staff had been redeployed elsewhere in the hotel to cater for guests attending an ABBA tribute night . We had not been made aware that eating in the hotel on the second night would be an issue when we checked in.We had to drive to a restaurant in town for dinner meaning we couldn’t enjoy a drink with our meal.Management ResponseDuty manager said he would speak to the staff involved and apologised saying this should never have happened.Asked him to respond to my complaint by email. He emailed back again apologising but with no offer of compensation.I requested one night be refunded as our weekend or part of it had been ruined.Received a second email saying they would give us 20% off a future stay.

Very good

Liked: We had our two dogs with us, obe a 13.5yr old, the other just 6mths old and first time away. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they even informed us of a quicker and easier way to get our dogs out especially at night and early morning. The bed was very comfortable and room was cosy. Breakfast was really tasty
Disliked: There's nothing we didn't like.
