Amazing Hotel!!

Liked: First time staying in a Banyan Tree, and I loved everything about it. The woman who checked us in was very attentive and gave us a refreshing ginger tea and cool towel. She had recently spent some time in Canada and has excellent english.Our room was absolutely amazing. We couldn't believe the size and luxury. When we arrived, they mentioned that they'd been having power issues. We didn't have any issues with power except our tv didn't have a signal, probably because it was coming online but didn't affect our enjoyment of the place. We had drinks and chalupas on the rooftop terrace, which had an amazing 360 view of Puebla. The pool was also on the terrace. It looked great - good size. Unfortunately, we didn't have time for a dip.I loved this hotel. It now lives rent free in my head. One night wasn't long enough.
Disliked: My only wish for my stay was that we had larger windows or one of the rooms with a balcony, but now that can be for next time!!

Exceptional

Banyan Tree was simply gorgeous...

Liked: I loved the sophisticated interior design showcasing local Mexican artisan crafts including the Tavalera ceramics and lacquerware. Bedroom and bathrooms were of exceptional standard as one would expect from the Banyan Tree. The beautiful views from the rooftop restaurant and swimming pool exceeded expectations. Excellent American breakfast included in the room rate.
Disliked: Be prepared that the hotel is a 20 minute walk from the Zocalo where most of the action is and in the evening, you'll probably want a taxi to get to the best restaurants and bars.

Liked: The location is amazing and the rooftop is gorgeous - the view, the pool .... we had dinner at the Thai restaurant on the roof and loved their special hot sauce so much that we got them to-go. It is made in-house from 2 local mexican chilies and 1 thai chili . Our rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable.

I loved the hotel and...

Liked: Breakfast was unremarkable and very overpriced. Ate too at roof top terrace. Food was fine but the amount of wine they served for the price of a cup was quite stingy. I would not return to the restaurants. Super expensive for what you get.
Disliked: Amount of wine served for the amount charged. Restaurants seemed overpriced.

We loved the decoration and...

Liked: Location and the decoration in the lobby and the rooms are amazing - I recommend visiting the church in front of the hotel, which is also beautiful. Staff was nice.
Disliked: We were very disappointed by the food, both in the Italian restaurant and the breakfast; too much room fragrance in the lobby when we checked in, and also in the elevators (throughout our stay); no air-conditioning in the elevators and corridors, so the temperature fluctuates depending where you are in the hotel; the bathtub took forever to fill and we had two defective soap and shampoo pumps in our room - housekeeping should check them regularly.
