Hotel Description
Set amid 38 acres of woodland and gardens 3 miles away from the historic towns of Hastings and Battle in East Sussex the hotel is an ideal base to explore 1066 country. The house was built in 1719 and remodeled substantially in 1776 by General Sir James Murray who served under Wolfe and was later Governor of Quebec. He named the house Beauport after his summer residence in Canada.

Very good

Liked: I thought the hotel was beautiful. The food was delicious and the staff very kind.It was lovely that Duncan signed a card for my partner's birthday and luxury chocolates were left in the room.It was a shame I didn't see Duncan personally to sign my book ' Anyone can do it', but I am enjoying reading it all the same.It is a fabulous hotel and we will stay again in future
Disliked: Although the grounds of the hotel are well maintained, I thought there may have been more walks through the woodland areas. There is nowhere to walk around the location of the hotel.

Lazy and lousy. Banatyne doesn't...

Liked: Sausages at the breakfast buffet. Always magnificent. Staff were helpful enough.Solid reception.
Disliked: Room was pokey. Toilet would not flushWiFi not password secure. Lazy register to log on. Means you can't use Google TV or anything remotely this century. Bed uncomfortable, pillows pointless. Evening meal consistently low grade. In short Banatyne is not invested and place feels like a lazy cash absorber, all take no return.

Don’t use the restaurant

Liked: Conveniently located for our needs , staff on reception very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: Restaurant issues, table booked for 7/30 was seated at 7/30 .8/15 garlic bread arrived , other diners who arrived after us had eaten their main meal .After telling the staff the wait was ridiculous 8/50 main course arrived with my husband’s meal of fish and chips , chips were cold we asked for them not to be replaced as we didn’t want to wait another hour .on Leaving we asked if the restaurant was short staffed to be told no it was not and they apologised for our wait with 20%discount . Would rather of had a timely and hot meal.

Great, but not really a...

Liked: There were a couple of exceptional staff members who were very helpful. All were polite , but some didn't seem to know meal times etc.Rooms were clean and comfortable. Massages were lovely.
Disliked: Service wasn't always the best. Breakfast was pretty average, waited ages to be served despite only 8 tables in and poached eggs tasted of vinegar when they arrived. Also, there was some confusion about the use of the spa as we had booked through Booking.com and where to get our spa robes etc from. But sorted by very helpful lady on the Spa reception. I wasn't that impressed by the spa facilities. I mean the spa bit was nice and our massages were fantastic, but I wouldn't call it a spa, more a gym/pool with a sauna and a couple of jacuzzis. I feel I would have been disappointed if I had booked the as a spa weekend as nowhere really just to chill out.
