Liked: Balloch House is a lovely traditional country-style hotel, with a cosy original interior with oak beams and fireplaces, and spotless rooms with all modern comforts. It is set right beside the River Leven, with riverside walks through the Country Park. We did a loch cruise, spent a morning shopping at Lomond Shores, and visited the impressive Bird of Prey Centre. Our room had a great view of the river flowing into the loch with a gorgeous backdrop of hills. Loch Lomond cruises start from here, a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. The staff are delightfully friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome. We ate dinner in the hotel, and the food was lovely. As a small personal criticism, I would have liked to have had more gluten and dairy-free options on offer rather than just a dish by dish list of ingredients on a tablet - which sadly ruled out most of what was on the menu for me, but I did enjoy my options of sea bass and sorbet for dessert. .

Liked: A warm hotel on a cold February dayFriendly staff . An interesting bar/dining area.
Disliked: After a late night out I was woken at 7.05 by an annoying text message from booking.com suggesting an early check out. The hotel allowed me to check out anytime up 12.00. I should have been allowed to sleep.
