Auckland's Waitakere Estate - Heritage Boutique Collection, Nihotupu

Stunning location.

Liked: The view and location was beautiful.The staff tried very hard to be helpful.
Disliked: Our room was so mouldy that unfortunately it was uninhabitable. Upon arriving we , two adults, two children starting coughing, itchy throat, watery eyes and pretty instant headache. The humidity machine was overflowing with moisture from the bedroom and closet.When we asked to change to another room, we were told they were fully booked (which was totally understandable as a big concert was happening in Auckland.)The staff were lovely but their hands were tied, although they understood our dilemma they had no availability. Luckily a cancelation happened that could accomodation our two children to keep them out of the mould.We appreciated them trying to help us.We on the other hand had no choice but to forfeit a bed for three nights and to sleep on the chairs away from the worst of the mould.I know the staff were sympathetic, which we appreciate, however I hope the hotel does not rent out that room again as it is a health Hazzard.Saying that, we would stay again, in another room, as the location and staff were excellent. We understand that properties in this tropical region of Auckland often experience terrible dampness due to the volume of rain..

Liked: Fabulous 50’s unpretentious charm with some updating that has not changed the yesteryear vibe too much. Amazing views; beautifully tended flowering gardens; extremely comfy beds and an incredible chef at the restaurant. What I find.
Disliked: Nothing

Calling this a resort is...

Liked: The only positive comment about our stay here was the view. Although a large tree partially blocked it.
Disliked: Only half the windows could be opened, which was problematic as no air conditioning existed. The room was dusty, as if it had not been cleaned in a long time. The freezer in the minifridge was completely iced over and unusable. The only coffee provided was two packets of press coffee, but no press pot was provided. The bottom sheet on the bed was far too small; it was just a flat sheet that covered 2/3 of the bed. Very tight parking at the end of a long, steep, and often single-lane driveway.
