I enjoyed the stay, but only having 2 tea bags was a bit off.
Liked: The restaurant was amazing and was a pleasure to eat in.
Disliked: The shower over the bath - was impossible for me to have a shower as I could not even get into it.

Good breakfast, comfortable bed.
Liked: They are under construction so not ideal but should be nice when they finish.

Great location, great stay as...
Liked: I have stayed here before and the ease of parking my ute appeals as well as being included in the room rate is great value. The rate of the room including breakfast was excellent value and then to realise we had been upgraded, amazing! We also asked to be roomed next to our friends, and not only did the staff accommodate, they gave us adjoining rooms. Thank you.
Disliked: Only small issue was the beds weren't the most comfortable however as only stayed overnight, not a major.

A very good option and...
Liked: A lovely place to stay in Auckland, although it is not really within walking distance to the city area. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel for the 755 buses, though, which run regularly and go into the city (5–10-minute ride, credit card can be used to tap on and off for fares). The hotel is full of character, and the rooms have recently been renovated, with a high standard of fittings (the bathroom was lovely). The bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant and bar were affordable, and they had a very good menu and a lovely view across the rose gardens opposite down to the water. The Wi-Fi was good.
Disliked: The carpets in the hallways don't create a good first impression, as they are very well worn, although I'm sure they'll be on the list with the renovations (the reception area was being done when I was there). Parking is free but if you arrive late in the afternoon or in the evening, there are very few if any spots available, and they are extremely narrow (which may cause issues if you have a car of any size above a small one). Street parking is available but is ticketed in daylight hours. My room was directly facing onto the pool, which I didn't think would be a consideration given the season; however, a family spent an hour or so in it one afternoon and it was very noisy. Asking for a room away from the pool would solve this problem.

Luxurious room & excellent location
Liked: Location very central with a bus stop right in front of hotel & free parking for rental car. Outside look a bit dated but was pleasantly surprised that interiors were refurbished to the max in comfort & room design. Being upgraded to a room with twin queen sized beds ( extremely spacious enough for 4pax) overlooking the rose garden, with a balcony & lift access was such a bonus. Used the laundry facilities available too. Can’t wait to recommend to friends.
Disliked: Absolutely nothing

Good value, but very hard...
Liked: Recently modernised rooms were very clean, spacious and well presented. Plenty of sockets but no USB charging points which seems a shame considering the recent refresh. location was great, within walking distance of the city center.
Disliked: Very poor sound proofing between rooms and through the single glazed windows. The room had 2 queen beds, but both were very firm, too firm for me.
