Why not be downtown?

Liked: Great downtown location, clean rooms and showers, comfy beds, great gathering areas
Disliked: The price that Booking .com charged was higher than the price stated on their website (50CAD vs 38CAD) per night for a bed in a four person female room. I did not note the overcharge until after I paid. When I contacted Bookig.com they would not refund me the amount I overpaid because I could not produce a screen of the prices that were stated in their website for my dates of stay since the dates were in the past. I gave up but please do not use Booking.com. Best to contact the hostel directly.

Liked: The location is great, right in the centre of the old town. The hostel even arranges a free walking tour that leaves from the hostel each day (if enough people sign up). The common areas were great and very spacious with lounges and the kitchen/dining area. My room was very large with plenty of space for luggage and large lockers for belongings. Shared bathrooms were generally very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
Disliked: The only tiny thing was that the floors in the room weren't cleaned during my stay, which would have been nice given the mess from snowy and salty boots. Other than that, everything was great!
