Atholl arms review
Liked: Arrived, the hotel was very welcoming at the front desk, looked like a very dog friendly hotel. Some decor in the halls needs completed, some missing wallpaper. Booked the junior suite, room looked lovely, bath was amazing. Unfortunately it's a bad day when the bath is more comfortable than the bed. Bedding and pillows were nice but the mattress was like concrete. Dinner was a disaster, waited over 20 minutes after being seated before we managed to catch someone's eyes so that we could order drinks. Decided to just order the meal at the same time rather than potentially waiting even longer. I can only compliment the chef, the food was amazing. Again unfortunately when the plates were cleared, we were asked if we wanted dessert, we said yes we know what we want... No one took the order, we waited nearly 30 minutes and decided to just get the bill and leave. Others seemed to have no issues being served, felt like we were put in a corner and forgotten. Breakfast was alright but not great. Location of hotel was lovely, right on the river Tay. The car park was small so if it is busy it might be a struggle to get parked. The staff tried to rectify the dinner issue at checkout by gifting us a bottle of champagne.

Lovely stay in a beautiful...
Liked: This is an old hotel which has been modernised to a very high standard. Our bedroom was lovely with a great shower and comfortable bed. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious as well. This is a dog-friendly hotel which is fine if you are a dog lover but perhaps not so great if you are not…..however, I asked for a dog-free room and that wasn’t a problem.
Disliked: There is no lift so people should be aware that there are a lot of stairs to climb to the second floor. The staff were happy to carry our suitcase up for us though. Also, the hotel is very dog friendly - something to be aware of if you have an allergy.

It was but ok but...
Liked: Nicely decorated and good location. The lady on reception who greeted us (didn’t catch her name but from Hungary) was very kind and welcoming. Lovely bathroom
Disliked: 4 things which made stay less pleasant.1. The bed was very uncomfortable. Double bed made of two halves and one half was clearly older with issues with the springs resulting in a very uncomfortable sleep. 2. Extremely noisy on floor above the bedroom. Not sure if that was other guests in other rooms which obviously is not the hotel’s fault. Regardless it sounded like furniture was being moved both at night and then again in the morning. Was more than just standard noise you might expect. 3. Ate in the bistro. Meal came and was incomplete and when rectified (after 7mins) was cold. Better idea to have taken plate away and kept it warm and brought it back complete. Other tables also being given the wrong food. Maybe just an off night. 4. Breakfast was ok but nothing special and unfortunately the staff serving breakfast were not very friendly and bordered on being rude.
